Worried About Your Dog’s Skin Health?

Skin health concerns are common and can appear anywhere on your dog’s body. Your veterinarian is the expert on your dog’s health, so you should always consult with this trusted advisor to find the best solutions for your pet. This specialized expertise is why Royal Canin works closely with veterinarians to develop formulas that support skin health.

Common Causes of Skin Health Concerns

Environmental Sensitivities

Pollen, plants and dust are environmental factors that can trigger an immune response in some dogs.

Food Sensitivities

Your veterinarian may recommend a diet elimination trial to help determine if your pet has a sensitivity to certain proteins in his current diet.

Parasites

Your dog can pick up external parasites such as mites, fleas, ticks and lice from contaminated sources, both indoors and out

Infection

Puppies, older dogs, and dogs that have recently been ill may be more susceptible to bacterial infections that can lead to skin health concerns.

How Can Nutrition Help?

Your veterinarian may recommend a Royal Canin Dermatology formula for your dog. These special formulations can:

Support digestive health by regulating movement through the GI tract and supporting balanced digestive flora

Support the skin’s natural protective barrier

Aid cellular health with a complex blend of antioxidants.

Promote healthy skin and coat by providing long chain omega-3 fatty acids in the diet

Find The Perfect Balance

With a dry and wet feeding routine, dry food supports positive oral health while wet food supports healthy hydration.

Autoship

Keep your pet's feeding on schedule.  Set your order for Autoship to make sure you always have their veterinarian-recommended nutrition on hand.

How much vitamin E is in this food ?

Is brewers yeast the same ingredient as brewers rice? My yorkie is allergic to brewers yeast

Answer by ChewyMar 23, 2018
Brewers Rice is not the same as Brewers Yeast. This product does not contain either ingredient.

Is this grain free?

Answer by ChewySep 28, 2018
This product is grain free.

Since this is a veterinary select dog food, I would assume it's of the highest quality. And yet the second ingredient is duck byproduct meal. Many other brands advertise "no byproducts" suggesting they are unhealthy. What are the byproducts in this food exactly?

Answer by ChewySep 16, 2018
Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.

Good for Dog with Allergies

My dog has been on this food for a while and it seems to be working out well considering he has allergies.. 4 stars instead of 5 because it's expensive!

We tried this when we repeatedly couldn’t get the canned soft food equivalent on our authorship (and still can’t). My dog won’t eat it. We now have an unopened bag of this prescription dog food. It’s very disappointing to not be able to get the food our dog needs.

As soon as I started feeding my pug this food, his one good ear that was white started immediately having more earwax and looked red and infected. I stopped using but with his main food supply getting low and that food being out of stock I’m not using it again in moderation with his main..once that main one is in stock and this food is finished I will not be repurchasing.

It smelled delicious

My dog loves it and the vacuum-sealed packaging really helped preserve its freshness.

Everyone likes it!

I started my 11 year old German Shepherd on RCPD after being diagnosed a couple years ago with IBD, Esophageal issues, Myasthenia Gravis, and was always battling itchy paws, ears, and bottom. She loved it and has done very well on it. My 9 year old German Shepherd started having diarrhea, eating grass and carpeting and then throwing up. We switched her to RCPD, and she has done very well. My youngest one 1+ years old has struggled with eating things, upset stomach, vomiting, and already has had two ear infections. He recently had surgery to remove things from his stomach because he wouldn't stop eating things. After surgery, he refused his regular food. Then refused veterinary soft canned food used for sensitive stomachs, as well as a Salmon canned food for sensitive stomachs. After 5 days of eating very little food, I offered a few pieces of RCPD. He has eaten two meals and finished them completely, so far. I think he likes it as well as my other two. Thank goodness for this food!
