About Royal Canin Gastrointestinal Health For Cats

Worried About Your Cat’s Digestion?

Your cat’s gastrointestinal (GI) system helps support the rest of the body by properly digesting food and making sure to extract the nutrients needed for overall health. Your veterinarian is the expert on your cat, so you should always consult with this trusted advisor to find the best gastrointestinal health solutions and management options for your pet.

Know Your Cat’s GI System

  1. Mouth: where ingestion of hair and formation of hairballs can occur, due to frequent grooming.
  2. Stomach: the first part of the GI tract, where inflamation may lead to vomitting.
  3. Small Intestine and Pancreas: where the small intestine is responsible for absorption of nutrients within the diet and the pancreas aids in digestion.
  4. Large Colon (Tranverse): which is responsible for forming stool.
  5. Large Colon (Descending): which is responsible for forming stool; any alteration to this process may lead to constipation or diarrhea.
  6. Rectum: where stool leaves the body

How Nutrition Can Help

Talk to your vet about your concerns for your pet's GI tract health. Your veterinarian may recommend a Royal Canin GI formula that is:

Rich in nutrients and easily digestible

Balanced for good digestion, with a blend of fibers and prebiotics to support digestive health

Highly palatable to encourage eating, even when appetite is decreased due to gastrointestinal upset

Find The Perfect Balance

With a dry and wet feeding routine, dry food supports positive oral health while wet food supports healthy hydration.

Product damaged

I received a case of this expensive veterinary diet kitten food, only to discover that nearly half of the cans were dented.

Great Veterinary Food

My cat is not a kitten, but he loves this Gastrointestinal Mousse. He has stomach issues and refuses to eat the adult version of this food, but he will beg for multiple servings of this food. Thanks for making something to help my beloved pet.

Bad diarrhea

This formula does not work for my Kitty friends. The kitten we recently adopted had a small stomach virus on top of kitten soft stools and my Dr suggested this type of food to try to help get better stools. We got the adult brand for the other 1.24 yr old kitty that also came down with the stomach bug. We waited a couple of weeks to see if the kitties would adjust to the new diet and did not make a difference, in fact made it much worse. They both suffered really bad diarrhea from this on top of what they were recovering from. I switched them back to their old food and are doing just fine. I also gave the feedback to my veterinarian so they know it did not work for either of the girls. Everyone is different so it may work for another chemistry type but not our little girl friends. :( Upon my vet's recommendation we purchased some dry food of this same brand for gastrointestinal but not from Chewy and as an experiment, I had given that to both girls minus the wet food and they still suffered terrible diarrhea. Maybe it is just the brand that they do not do well with but think it is weird they both could not eat it. I waited again after a bit and gave them the wet food and sure enough all of the potty discomfort returned. We cannot use this formula/brand at all.

Did not help my sensitive tummy kittens :(

Unlike the other reviews here my kittens did not have a good experience with this food. My vet had recommended this for their diarrhea but unfortunately it wasn’t working. Their stools were constantly loose, smelly, and sometimes pretty watery. It wasnt until I switched to another brand of food that was free of grains, corn, wheat, soy, and by products did it all stop. Im not even sure if the pork was also a culprit from this food. I really wish this worked because my kittens love it but their tummies don’t :( Experiences may vary and every kitten is different I would definitely recommend you to try it if your vet approves. I just wanted to share my experience because there is always negative experiences too not just good ones!

Awesome for diarrhea

My 4month old kitten had terrible diarrhea. I work at a vet office so I ran a fecal sample and he came up clear—no intestinal parasites or any illness causing the diarrhea. Metronidazole and albon helled but his stool was still soft serve puddles and he got gassy from eating fancy feast kitten wet food. I switched him to this wet food (he does not like dry food) and he loves it! I put a packet of fortflora probiotic in his meals daily and it cleared up the diarrhea. He seems to have a very sensitive stomach and I’m so glad this food keeps him happy and healthy! He has a nice soft, smooth and shiny coat of fur now and I can tell he is feeling better by how he is affectionate and is eager to eat this food. I’m glad I found something he enjoys that is actually good for him. And royal canin does strict quality control and consistently conducts research on the nutrients that should be in proper feline diet. WELL worth the money! I have it on auto ship so that I’ll never run out of my pets new favorite, healthy food!

keep up great service and great products.

This product has certainly helped my senior kitty with digestive issues. Also the vet prescribed hydrolyzed kibble for her and she finally is not barfing up the other foods every day. Thank you. PS: had a shipping mis-ship and the CS lady listened and was very helpful to get the problem solved. Thank you.
