Questions & Answers

5 Customer Questions

How many cups are in the 24.2 lb bag?

What is the percentage of carbohydrates in this food?

What is the flavor of this dog food?

Answer by ChewySep 12, 2025
This diet does not have an added ¨flavor¨ like some pets' food. Instead, its taste comes naturally from the protein sources used in the recipe, such as hydrolyzed soy protein and chicken fat, along with other key ingredients that support the pup's health.

Is the Chicken Fat and "Natural Flavors" also hydrolyzed?

Answer by ChewyAug 20, 2025
Royal Canin purifies fat and oils; they will be free of protein and therefore can be fed to a pet with a chicken allergy. The natural flavors in the product are a broth comprised of ingredients already listed on the ingredient deck that are used to enhance the palatability profile of the food. While this is a proprietary blend, Royal Canin does not anticipate an allergy response from the natural flavors if all other ingredients are of no concern.

I'm glad my dog like the taste of this food, and it's partially working so far. I was told by the vet to give it 2-3 months for full results. His ears stopped growing with fungus, but they still itch, and the red bumps are minimal but are still there, so we will see if that all goes away in coming two months. His allergies are terrible.

Within the evening after my dog ate this food he had digestion upset. I thought it would be similar to the hydrolyzed food by Royal Canin but it isn't. He developed diarrhea and it took a few days to get him lined out. Think twice before purchasing this dog food. Very expensive to have this happen.

So expensive, but worth every penny

In spite of his allergies, my dog is tolerating this food well and loves the taste. Fast turnaround for the vet approval as well.

Our vet changed our dog's food a couple of times to change things up for her health problems. It was trial and error on each one. She seemed to have allergies and keep licking her paws alot. And we needed to have a food that was easy for her digestion w/ lower fat %, & without a prime novel protein. Tryed this RC Vet Diet multifunction satiety + hydrolyzed protein dry food. Bingo it worked. It smells really good and our schnauzer just loves it and gobbles it down right away. Were so happy that she likes the food. The last food was Hills hydrolzed with soy protein. I always had to put water in her bowl in order for her to eat it. She didnt like the taste of Hills food really.

When we first adopted our Shepsky, he had chronic loose stools and digestive problems from day one. Potty time was a huge issue. Whenever I’d say go potty, he would get visibly stressed and would actually bite me. Our vet prescribed The Hill’s Science GI Biome dog food, and it was a miracle at first. His stools firmed up and the potty time behavior stress stopped. About a year later, the issues came back out of nowhere. The potty time stress returned still only directed at me, but never my husband. We started noticing gland issues too. That’s when I brought it up to the vet and asked if it could be an allergy. The vet put him on a strict 6 week elmination diet and prescribed the Royal Canin Hydrolyzed Protein, and while it helped confirm the allergy theory, his stools got loose again, likely because of the significant drop in fiber compared to the GI Biome food he was previously on. That’s when I discovered Royal Canin Hydrolyzed Protein Satiety Support. Despite its intended purpose is for weight loss, the fiber content is much higher. Our vet switched him to this and within 3 weeks, he completely stopped his outbursts during potty time and I hadn't changed anything else besides his food. As an added bonus, when we adopted him, his paw pads were extremely sharp and rough. My husband thought it was from living on the streets in the Texas heat when we was abandoned. I tried every balm, cream, and wax out there, and nothing worked. But after a few weeks on this food, they started to noticeably improve. They’re still rough, but the texture has changed and I haven’t even applied a thing! I’m gluten and dairy free myself, so now my dog and I are food restriction buddies! This formula has absolutely changed our lives and above all, our pup's. If your dog is struggling with an allergy to animal protein and has digestive issues, this is 100% worth trying. Royal Canin, please never stop making this formula. I cannot express how much of a game changer this was for our dog.

Although feeding just the kibble alone made my dog constipated, once I mixed z the canned hydrolized food 50/50 he seems a lot better able to digest it. He does like the taste so that’s a big plus since he’s on this trial hydrolyzed diet for 6-8 weeks to test for skin sensitivities .
