Questions & Answers

3 Customer Questions

I have bought the 3.3lb bag. I love it for my pomeranian with gastrointestinal problems. Wondering, is there an option for smaller kibble size? I have to crush the kibble up because it is too large for him to eat, because he chooses to inhale food rather than chew it. I fear he will choke otherwise.

How many grams of food per bag?

Answer by ChewyOct 13, 2025
This formula contains the following grams of food per bag: 680 grams of food in the 1.5-pound bag, 1,497 grams of food in the 3.3-pound bag, 4,491 grams of food in the 9.9-pound bag, and 8,981 grams of food in the 19.8-pound bag.

Why is there chicken fat in this kibble when the protein is supposed to be hydrolyzed?

Answer by ChewyJan 07, 2026
Royal Canin refines the fats and oils to remove protein, making them suitable for pets with a chicken allergy. If you have any concerns, we recommend consulting with the veterinarian who prescribed this kibble.

Norman is my high energy, loyal and loving Miniature Schnauzer. He is a huge chow hound and use to be able to eat a large variety of food. The poor guy developed a food allergy and now has to eat hydrolyzed protein. Another problem that Norman developed is pancreatitis which is common with Mini Schnauzers. He had become very ill. Eating this low fat, hydrolyzed food is the only solution for him. He continues to be a chow hound but only with a few choices of specific food and treats. This saved his life!

Brenna needs to be on prescription food for many allergies. She loves to eat and I’ve tried everything to get some pounds off her. I had a great conversation with the pharmacy at Chewy and we decided to try the low fat Canin. I tried a small bag to see if her allergies kicked up but the my didn’t! I then bought the bigger bag and after almost 2 months on this food the “wrinkles” on her neck are going away and she’s getting her young girl svelte body back! It’s also helping her legs that she always pulled running. She’s lighter now and her legs have been great! She’s 9-1/2 and I expect arthritis do her weight loss is helping all around! I highly recommend this food and as always CHEWY for their super help and enjoyable conversations all the time. Perfect in every way!!!

Our little guy has a lot of allergies and sensitivities that are common with English bulldogs. This food has resolved all of his allergies and digestive issues that the numerous other brands we tried were causing. Plus he loves this food so much that he can’t contain his excitement when it’s time for his meals. This food has been a game changer for our English bulldog.

Absolutely love this option for our doberman with epi. It's not perfect but close enough given the circumstances. I really wish the manufacturer could keep up with the demand, it is constantly out of stock and for our big boy he goes through an 18 pound bag in 2 weeks. We're switching to our vet's recommended brand for the sake of reliability, but if Rc and Chewy can establish reliable stock, we will be back. Our pup's stool is near perfect with this kibble and we hate to switch. One other thing we wish they remove is fish oil or provide a fish-free version, our doberman suffers from red ears because of this allergies to fish, but it's a tradeoff we were willing to take.

Our veterinarian prescribed this and when it came I truly thought my 8 lb Havachon wouldn’t eat it due to the size of the kibble being a little big and because he hasn’t ever liked the real hard kibble. This is crunchy but not too hard so you can chop it up which is what I am doing. He devoured the first serving and continues to enjoy it and it is good for his gut!
