My shi poo seems to get mats every day. I like his hair fluffy but always need to have him shaved down to a half inch. Will this comb shorten his hair or leave his hair uneven?

This de-matting comb features serrated blades that are designed to remove tangles from matted fur without harming your dog's skin. As is is made to gently cut through mats, it is possible for the fur to be left uneven.

I took my maine coon kitty with severe matting to the pet groomer and she allowed me to help. I was shocked and delighted to see her use this tool. I have no less than 10 combs, brushes, mat removal tools, furminator, etc. and this thing blew them all away! She was able to get under his mats and they just came right out. I was sure he would have to be shaved into a lion cut but she removed 90% of the mats using this thing. She did have to shave a little of him but not the entire cat. I highly recommend this tool for anybody who owns a long hair cat. I'm the Mom to 6 if that matters.

Made clearing mats MUCH easier on my 14 lb terrir mix

I was skeptical but decided to give it a go after reading all the reviews. And I'm glad I did. My 14 lb terrir mix has long scraggly hair and had gotten a lot of mats I could not just brush out. You haveto be careful with this (for yourself and the dog) but nothing inordinate. Jane tolerated it very well (while on a grooming table from Chewy as well) and the job was done in fairly short order. Its breaks the tangles up cutting them pretty well. It gets them down to where they come the rest of the way out with just a comb and now Jane is smooth and soft again. I'll likely buy another one to have on hand for when this one inevitably gets dull one day. I Like the longer blades. I already had one with the short blades and this is much better at getting in there. It's still a 2 person job grooming Jane but this made the job infinitely easier and less stressful to her a she behaved well while I used it.

My new favorite comb

With two goldens this tool/ comb gets the knots out of their hair and twigs that attach themselves to their hair on our hikes. Best comb in a drawer full of brushes

With two goldens this tool/ comb gets the knots out of their hair and twigs that attach themselves to their hair on our hikes. Best comb in a drawer full of brushes and combs. Just be careful the blades, is very sharp.

It doesn't pull on his fur.

Scout is a five month old F1 goldendoodle, meaning he sheds. We have tried many brushes. This is the first one that he tolerates. We have always had Golden Retrievers

Easy to use

Aussie is an Australian Shepherd and has a thick under coat. When shedding season started this year he needed combing daily with his under coat comb. Even with that

The demanding comb made the dematting process much easier for both of us. The blades are sharp and slice right through the mat.

Ease of handling

This was very good for me because I am ambidextrous. The ease of using this without cutting my dog was great. He gets matted easily. Highly recommend.

I made a mistake

I gave it four stars because the description doesn't mention this is for large breed dogs. I ordered this brush because I needed it to detangle my shih tzu's long

I gave it four stars because the description doesn't mention this is for large breed dogs. I ordered this brush because I needed it to detangle my shih tzu's long hair. The brush seems well made and sturdy. However, I haven't use it because it is more for big dogs than small dogs. I didn't return it because I've made returns in Chewy before and they just let me keep the product and honestly, I feel guilty about it, so I just kept it. If you have a big dog, this brush is perfect for you, but not for small dogs.
