What exactly is grit & where would I purchase it? Also, would a small amount of this feed harm baby ducks? (4 weeks old approximately) I provide feed to the adult Pekin ducks in the neighborhood lake, & recently the brown duck babies & their Mama have come running at mealtime.
Answer by ChewyNov 27, 2019
This formula is to be feed to chicken and ducks that are 20 weeks of age and on. The grit that would need to be added is available on the manufacturers website.

Is the ground limestone a substitute for grit or should you still add the grit?
Answer by ChewyNov 18, 2019
It's recommended to feed free choice Layer Grit in a separate container to aid in digestion.

My girls love it

I feed organic feed to my chickens. One started laying at 18 weeks. I raised the from a week old so they get the best. No health issues and they love it dry or with water added overnight in the fridge. Nice and cool for them in warm weather.

Best feed for my layers

I've been feeding my chickens this brand for over 3 years now, and they lay beautiful healthy eggs, and I don't have any health issues with my girls. A friend wanted me to try a local feed that was 1/3 the cost of this, and it was mostly powder and filler. No thanks. I'm sticking to Scratch & Peck. I also love that the packaging is biodegradable and that the company is somewhat local to me. I recommend this to any poultry keeper, it's worth it!

Best food money can buy

I have been feeding this food to my hens for 7 years. I live in Northeastern Pennsylvania, getting eggs all year long. My hens love this food, eat it up daily and my eggs are so nutritious, we eat them daily to build our health!

Top 1000 Contibutor

Better for fermenting

I’m giving 5 stars more so people will read, honest rating is 4 stars BECAUSE as it is in the bag, it’s a lot of whole grains covered in powders. Depending on husbandry and pets, a lot of the powder gets lost. However! Mixing this 2:1 with water and letting it ferment will double the volume of feed, ensure they eat all parts, and make it easier for your pet to absorb nutrients! So as a dry feed? 2/5 stars. As a wet feed 5/5!

This Feed is worth the cost

I’ve used this feed since they were chicks starting with the grower feed. My hens produce one egg a day all year round - more than anyone I know. Because of cost I have tried to switch them to the cheaper Kalmbach by mixing it in slowly and already my girls are acting hungry all the time and very runny poo - egg production has also decreased. I am switching back to 100% this feed for these reasons. I have 7 traditional breed birds all fairly big.

Chicken Poison

This is absolute GARBAGE that will KILL YOUR CHICKENS. I am not exaggerating - ever since they changed their formula to about 90% dust, all of my chickens have STOPPED LAYING, have SLOW and PAINFUL MOLTS, are MORE VIOLENT toward each other, have wet and UNHEALTHY STOOLS caught in their tail feathers, and my favorite chicken is now DYING. I am FURIOUS about this because I DID MY RESEARCH for the BEST FEED and it used to be good until the OBVIOUS SHRINK-FLATION that they think we’re too STUPID to notice. I will NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH SCRATCH AND PECK AGAIN and I am DEMANDING REFUNDS for the last TWO BAGS I bought. BOYCOTT THIS CORRUPT CORPORATION!!! BOYCOTT SCRATCH AND PECK FEEDS!!!
