Would this work for securing dogs in the back of an suv. We just had a baby and can no longer put both of our large dogs in the backseat.

Answer by MHAIthacaMay 23, 2023
Yes, I have used it with the loop portion clipped around the rear seat headrest, but the leash portion leading back into the cargo area of a VW Tiguan SUV instead of into the seating area. As long as you have something to secure it to, it will work.

Can this be used with a collar or just a harness?

Answer by ChewyApr 06, 2021
While this restraint can be clipped to a collar, we do not recommend using it that way. In the event of a sudden halt, pressure would be applied to the dog’s neck and could potentially injure/choke your pet. With this being the case, we suggest only using a harness with this restraint.

My dog is 50 lbs and he likes to lay on the floor of the car or stick his head out the window. Will this allow a dog to sleep on the ground too?

Answer by ChewyMay 05, 2021
The dog car headrest restraint with seat belt lets your pet lie down and get comfortable. It does not allow a dog to stick their head out of the window. It can also be used as a leash.

Is this good for a 70 lb Golden Retriever?

Answer by ChewyMay 09, 2021
This seat belt is good for most dogs weighing 4 to 60 pounds.

Quality

It prevents my dog from moving around so much and don’t have to worry if he jumps Out before I’m ready for him.

Great item

Use this everyday in my vehicles with my dogs. My dogs can move around easily and keeps them from sliding off the seats or jumping on my kids.

I purchased these to keep my two dogs safe while riding with me. Five months after I got them, the one that my gentle, patient, 8 year old 55 lb dog uses is still in great shape and functional. The one that my impatient bull-in-a-china-shop 3 year old 90 lb dog uses has broken clips (for the buckle that secures around the head rest). I highly recommend the product, but it would be nice if Slow Ton sold an alternative version that doesn't use a plastic buckle to secure around the head rest. I was going to just replace the buckle half of the buckle, but because it's a good quality product, the plastic buckles are sewn securly into the strap that is securely affixed to the metal loop that keeps all the pieces together.

Too long and not a great angle

We got these for each car to secure our 15 lb Bernedoodle when we drive and nobody else is in the car. It stretches enough that she can reach the driver’s lap. Not

We got these for each car to secure our 15 lb Bernedoodle when we drive and nobody else is in the car. It stretches enough that she can reach the driver’s lap. Not safe. We are exploring how we can get it to work better - shortening it and attaching it to a seatbelt? We’ll see.

Okay.....

Can't even test for durability because it's too short for our puppy to walk around the back seats. Might work for others. Need to return.

Works perfectly!

So glad I got these! But just make sure to tighten/ shorten the strap before putting your pup in. I made the mistake of leaving it how it came for the first ride

Don’t buy for active dog!

Thank goodness we tried these headrest tethers on a short trip. Going a few blocks to the groomer, I went to get our active lab mix out of the car and the tether

Thank goodness we tried these headrest tethers on a short trip. Going a few blocks to the groomer, I went to get our active lab mix out of the car and the tether was wrapped around his neck! The laidback Basset was fine, but I am going back to using the seatbelt tethers.
