Is this harness good for dogs who like to back out the their harness?

yes, my pug can not get out of this.

How and why does this harness work to prevent and stop pulling? Does it work to change their momentum or squeeze to let them know to stop?

The front mesh part of the harness is elasticized and moves with your dog to prevent pulling while not choking your dog. Once the cord lock is securely tightened on the back of the harness, the front mesh part and sherpa sleeves work to stop your dog from pulling by allowing them to be unable to move forward.

what is the weight limits on the sizes of this harness

The weight limit per size are as listed: X-Small recommended weight is 2-8 pounds, Small recommended weight is 8-25 pounds, Medium recommended weight is 25-60 pounds, and Large/X-Large recommended weight is 60-100 pounds.

Does the harness prevent the dog from backing out from it (in reverse)?

Stops the majority of pulling pretty immediately

I didn't know what to expect getting this harness for our newly rescued (and woefully untrained) pup but it turned our 47lbs of pure muscle, happy, bouncy pit mix

I didn't know what to expect getting this harness for our newly rescued (and woefully untrained) pup but it turned our 47lbs of pure muscle, happy, bouncy pit mix from a nightmare on leash to a dream. It's super quick and easy to get on him and when we go outside he listens to leash pressure quickly and easily and walks next to us in a pretty decent heel despite coming to us without any prior training. With slip leads, collars, etc. he would pull and pull until he was choking and coughing and then he'd let up only long enough to catch his breath before going right back to pulling. With this sporn harness he might try to pull when we initially get out into the yard but he's walking behaved and next to me like a champ by the time we reach the end of the driveway. Our boy is 47lbs with a barrel chest and comfortably wears a medium in the harness.

Dependable Harness - Tried & True

My Rosco is a Rhodesian Ridgeback-Lab mix. He is 15 yrs young and still has the pull and drive of his youth, and is definitely a leader, puller, not a follower

My Rosco is a Rhodesian Ridgeback-Lab mix. He is 15 yrs young and still has the pull and drive of his youth, and is definitely a leader, puller, not a follower. This is the harness that he has had his entire life. After 14 yrs, it broke one morning. But that is after 14 years of pulling with all his body weight and muscle. My biggest fear is him getting loose and off leash, so this has been our "safety blanket" for yrs. I looked everywhere for a suitable replacement. Rosco wanted nothing to do with any of the replacements I tried. I FINALLY stumbled upon Chewy and BAM! There is our rusty trusty harness! Best part, with expedited shipping, we had it at our door within 48 hrs. and Rosco literally jumped for joy to have his "old friend" back! (I did too!) I can attest that while it may seem like a simple harness, and not as big, fancy, etc. as some of the others, it is definitely trust worthy and Rosco approved & loved! It does go over the head and then he slips one leg in and then the other. Which he is accustomed to. (He did NOT like the step in type replacements I tried.)

Sturdy construction and easy to adjust to fit a wide range of sizes

We have an older model of the same harness and have been searching for a new one. The old one is 13 years old and still in good shape. The new one is even better,

We have an older model of the same harness and have been searching for a new one. The old one is 13 years old and still in good shape. The new one is even better, so we expect it to last many many years. The front (shoulder) straps are easy to adjust and the girth (chest) fits anywhere from our 22 lb Jack Russell up to a 50 ob lab mix. It’s very versatile while staying quite secure. We highly recommend it.

Perfect fit!

This is the only harness that fit my unusually shaped dog (big chest/small waist). He is much more comfortable in it and cannot pull a Houdini escape move. Peace

Easy on and off harness.

I used a larger form of this product for years on my beagle cross who was a bad puller. It worked great. I now use this small version on my chihuahua/Jack Russell

Good for training but...

This was complicated to get on and off for a dog who does not like their feet touched. It fit well once we figured ways to bribe/reward my dog to position himself

Couldn’t hold 10 lb dog

This harness broke the first time we used it which shocked me because our dog is only 10 lbs. Otherwise, the concept was great.

Been buying these for years for all my dogs past and present.

I have bought these for years...from my giant Great Danes down to my medium sized rescue mutt and now even for my "small" puppy. They are great- they are comfortable

I have bought these for years...from my giant Great Danes down to my medium sized rescue mutt and now even for my "small" puppy. They are great- they are comfortable for the dogs to wear and not hot like a lot of other harnesses. I can easily control them while on walks, etc too, even if the naughty squirrel or chipmunk crosses our path and they want to chase it. Good quality too as I still have the XL ones I bought for my Great danes well over 15+ years ago and they are in perfect condition still!

Reduces pulling when walking dog

Upon recommendation, I bought this harness to reduce extreme pulling by my dog when I walk her. She is very strong so I was very concerned I could get pulled down

Upon recommendation, I bought this harness to reduce extreme pulling by my dog when I walk her. She is very strong so I was very concerned I could get pulled down to the ground and seriously injured. Magically, somehow this harness has reduced the pulling 95% of the time. Of course walking where objects to which she feels compelled to run are removed helps also.
