About Stella and Chewy’s

In 1997, Marie Moody adopted a dog named Stella from a local animal shelter. She soon decided that Stella needed a companion and adopted a sick pup named Chewy, who joined the family and helped forge the company’s history. On the advice of a veterinarian, Marie began feeding Chewy a raw diet to help with his health issues. He quickly recovered, and both he and Stella thrived on their new food. How many cups are in an 8 oz bag?

The 8-ounce bag will contain approximately 5 cups per bag. Stella & Chewy's packages all of their products by weight, not by cup count. This means that the number of cups can vary.

What are their manufacturing processes like? What is the chance of cross contamination with other foods like poultry??

Stella & Chewy's do use the same manufacturing equipment for all flavors, but they clean between each protein. A full sanitation is done at the end of each day. While there may be low levels of cross contact from other proteins, it would be very low and very infrequent.

Do they use the whole rabbit (i.e., including head and organs such as liver and kidneys)?

Some of my cat LOVE these, other don't

I give these to my cats dry as a treat. Some of them go absolutely nuts for them and others refuse to eat them at all (I have 11 cats). None of them will eat them

Both my cats go mad for the texture of these. I’ve tried the other chicken flavor too and they like it too. I haven’t used it for a full meal but more for supplemental

No Expiration Date & Would not rehydrate

I checked carefully on both bags and there was no expiration date. When I follwed the directions for rehydration it stayed hard. I even let it sit for 5 minutes

Made kitty sick

I’m sure this is a quality product, but it made my cat vomit for two days :( She is allergic to everything and can only process rabbit as her protein source. I guess

I guess the additional ingredients didn’t agree with her. There’s really nothing “bad” in the ingredient list, but I guess we have to stick to minimal ingredients in addition to rabbit only.

My Tod loves the rabbit morsels. Very pricy and sometimes get them and they are hard as rocks but the rabbit formula is great otherwise.

I am about 2 weeks in. I have 2 cats that love their kibble and wet food with any kind of sauce. Will NOT eat pate. The problem with the wet food with gravy is that

I am about 2 weeks in. I have 2 cats that love their kibble and wet food with any kind of sauce. Will NOT eat pate. The problem with the wet food with gravy is that frequently they lick the gravy and leave the actual food behind. Tried the Stella & Chewy freeze dried about 3 years ago and my boy wasn't interested. Decided to give it another shot after seeing Jackson Galaxy talking about raw food. I agree with the people who have said the chunks are too big. I cut each one into four pieces and then add the warm water. I add more water than it calls for. I let it soak at least 5 minutes. It seems to satisfy my cats desire for a saucy food. If the lick up all the water I just add more. The dishes are now always licked clean.

THEY LOVED THESE! Stella & Chewy's is always tops!

I broke one treat in half and then that half into 4 pieces and gave each cat got 2 pieces. They DEVOURED the snacks.
