We are big S&C fans and have had good luck feeding many of their flavors to our two very picky eaters. However, this was not a hit, but attribute this to our guys vs. any issues with the product.
My Jack Russell was diagnosed with pancreatitis at age 7 after thousands of dollars worth of bloodwork, ultrasounds and other various tests. The vet told us to give him antibiotics, change his diet and make him as comfortable as possible. He told us he probably wouldn’t make it past 10 years old. He has just turned 14. He hasn’t been on any meds for the past 4 years, and I know it’s because of the Stella and Chewy’s Venison. Yes, it’s expensive… but those antibiotics, steroids and all the vet visits are expensive too. I’m not saying you shouldn’t go to the vet. I’m saying that this food prevented all the visits from the dehydration, abdominal pain, vomiting and all other horrible side effects from pancreatitis. Stella and Chewy’s is amazing for our boy. The added plus is that he loves it. I have 2 other Jack Russells who eat other protein Stella and Chewy’s as well. I’m hoping starting my younger dogs on it will prevent serious illness. I believe diet IS everything.
This is the only flavor my dog can eat. He has allergies to everything else. It is pricey, but my Milo deserves the best and Stella & Chewy's provides this for him. Thank you Chewy for carrying this product.
Finally, I found Stella & Chewy's freeze dried Simply Venison on chewy.com and my 2 furry little girls LUV it! I searched for 3 weeks on Chewy.com and other websites for a freeze dried or freshly cooked venison food for my two 4-legged furry lovable girls. My 11-year young American Cocker Spaniel, Clover, has been on a vet prescribed venison and rice diet for most of her adult life due to digestive problems with foods containing chicken, turkey, beef and pork. My girls are gaining weight as they get older. I believe their food was a contributing factor. So I told my vet I want both of my girls to eat a more healthy diet for dogs; not processed kibbles and wet food! My vet agreed but said I should stick with venison. My 9-year young mixed breed terrier/chihuahua, Maxi, can eat any meat protein but can be a finicky eater. I've always fed the same food to both. I decided to try Stella's Simply Venison and another freeze dried brand with venison blend. I hydrated and put the two different brands in their bowls and both of my girls ate the Stella's freeze dried venison and most of the other food in their bowls. Now I prepare fresh veggies and sweet potato or brown rice and add hydrated Stella's FD Simply Venison. As soon as I open the bag both girls smell the venison and come and sit next to their bowls. When I fill their bowls Maxi gets so excited she starts twirling and dancing on her hind legs until I give them the 'sit' command to start eating. I know they are eating healthier now and we all are happy that I decided to bring Stella & Chewy's FD Simply venison home for dinner! Pricey for feeding 2 dogs but worth it.
I'm giving the Venison a try in order to eliminate some other proteins for allergy reasons. It's a single protein food. Each patty is rather firm and doesn't break up very easily like some of the other Stella and Chewy patties. But again, I believe it's a good quality dog food.
My dogs absolutely love this, but it’s just WAY too expensive for me.
All of my dogs love Stella and Chewy’s freeze dried patties. Chewy has always been an incredibly efficient and reliable source for all my pets various needs.
Chewy is always fantastic as far as their delivery and customer service. The products nearly always arrive the next day after I place my order. My picky Cocker Spaniel loves the venison patties and tolerates them well. However, something has happened to the quality control at Stella & Chewy's with all of the dinner patties. Sometimes they are easy to break apart and crumble (as they should be), and other times they are as hard as a rock. They even look different, some are flat and smooth, others have what look like grid lines on the patties. Sometimes I cannot even cut all the way through them with a knife without turning them over & cutting from both sides.
My picky POm did not like this,it would be great if smaller amounts or a sampler could be bought for a trial instead of tossing another 30$ bag of food. I continue to buy Stella and chewy though for the outstanding quality.
I’m not sure why my puppy throws up every time she eats the venison patties because she loves the rabbit from Stella and chewy
