Stella & Chewy's adds raw ground bone to all dinners as it's an essential part of a raw diet. The bone is safe and highly digestible when raw. The bone is ground with a 3/16 grind plate this means the bone could appear up to approximately 1/4-in size. The bone in the diet is ground to that size because of the health benefits it provides. A carnivore's teeth and body are designed to consume bone especially raw bone, like the bone used in each S&C meal. If it's ground to a powder, it doesn't have as many of the benefits. While it may feel sharper to our fingers, a carnivore's body is designed to consume and process the bone effectively and safely, as long as it's never cooked, heated, or microwaved.
Stella & Chewy's has a patented food safety procedure to ensure the safety of every product. The most powerful step in this procedure is the high-pressure processing (HPP) step this is a cold-water pressure process that effectively eliminates harmful bacteria from the food. This process is used on all products, regardless of the protein. As food-borne bacteria can be present in any type of meat, Stella & Chewy's feel that incurring the extra cost of HPP for all products is the responsible thing to do. This way pet parents can rest assured that they're always bring a safe food into their home. Additionally, HPP is the only reliable method for maintaining the wonderful raw nutrition of our products while still removing harmful pathogens.
All batches of food are sent to a 3rd party testing facility to be tested for both Salmonella and E.coli and Listeria no food ever leaves the plant without negative test results in hand. These test results are posted on stellaandchewys.com. Stella & Chewy's is highly committed to creating the most nutritious, safe, and delicious product on the market.
We do suggest rotating proteins every 2-6 weeks. This means you would feed one flavor consistently for 2-6 weeks, then switch to another flavor for 2-6 weeks, etc. This is a great way to give your dog variety and to help keep protein-based allergies at bay.
Stella & Chewy's products cannot be cooked, heated or microwaved. Doing so removes much of the nutrition. Additionally, we add raw, ground bone to our products as it's an essential part of a raw diet. Raw bone is incredibly safe however when bone cooks, it can become brittle and can splinter. Cooked bone is never safe for animals.
Stella & Chewy's freeze-dried foods have an expiration date of 18 months past the date of production. It is suggested to use our products by this date, or within a few days after. Much past that and we would recommend discarding the bag. Freezing or refrigerating would not extend the listed shelf life.
It's a question we hear a lot and we always suggest using the Stella & Chewy's product that was designed specifically for your cat or dog. Our dinners for dogs are not harmful to a cat, but they don't offer the balanced nutritional requirements of a cat either. You could occasionally offer the dog food to your cat, but wouldn't you prefer to give them the nutrients their furry little bodies need?
Many pet parents have told us that their animals thrive on a raw diet because of the low carbohydrate content. But every animal is different, so we recommend consulting with your veterinarian to determine what is best suited for your pet.

My dog is very picky and barely grazes his morning food. But since I also have a chow hound that will eat picky dog's food if I forget to pick the bowl up right away, I'd rather picky pup not graze. I have tried wet food, other food toppers, and canned pumpkin. The other food toppers didn't make a difference, and the pumpkin and wet food only worked about half the time. Magical Dinner Dust is amazing. My dog eats his food right away and has even licked the bowl. He never does that. It has been a week so far without him becoming complacent. If he does get bored, I will try another flavor.
Some days Storm just does not want to eat. He has shepards stomach and has to eat several small meals a day to keep him from being sick. Morning is the worst with trying to get him to eat. If he doesn't eat when he gets up he will be sick within 30 minutes. When I seen this I thought it would be worth a try. When he refused is food one morning I pulled the bag out and he perked right up nose in the air. I put just a small pinch in my hand and let him smell it. He was sat right down at his dish and waited. Now Storm is not a little dog, hes a 77lb WSGD and all I used was a small pinch of this on sprinkled on his food and he ate it all. Once he eats that morning meal he is good with eating the rest of day. He just needs that morning kick to get going. So far just of pinch of this is doing the trick and he's eating again.
Way easier than keeping a can refrigerated, dogs loved it
My dogs seem to really like the flavor added to their dry food. I mix their food with a bit of water sprinkled with the Magical Dinner Dust. They start eating right away and finish their food within 5-10 minutes. My only downside with this prod is the cost. I feel it is a bit pricy for the quantity. Other than that it is simple to use and does the job of motivating my picky eaters.
Miss Picky Picky turns down many meals- apparently the cook at our house is lacking. Even when I find an acceptable new food, within a couple weeks she tires of it. I bought two different flavors of Magical Dinner Dust for variety and she likes it!
Very often my Standard Poodle eats with indifference and will skip a meal. A little sprinkle gets him to the bowl. He will at least start eating, what he doesn't finish will be served again later in the day.
My dogs can be picky eaters. I have a young adult and a senior, both small breeds. I recently had to put my senior on a diet and he was not liking his food as much. I wanted to add some type of a treat element to his food since I had to cut back on his treats so much. This was great a small sprinkle add a little fish oil or water and BAM he was eating like a champ again. My younger one started to try eating the older one's food so I started using it on his as well. A little goes a long way.
Our picky dog seems to like it. We hope he keeps liking it. We have tried all kinds of food.
My dogs loved this stuff on there food and as a topper on there lick mats
My dog is a very picky eater--she loves this topping!!! It is definitely a dust, so I was surprised at first, but my dog absolutely loves it--and will eat her dry food when I add the dinner dust!
