I was so excited to try this supplement. My horse is needing a way to get his nutrients without feeding more grains/pellets. He refused to eat this supplement ... instead he slung his feeder across the stall. I have tried twice and both times got the same answer. And trust me this horse has a huge food drive !! So if he tells me that something isn't edible, I have to believe him.
I have been looking for a balancer to go with the grass hay I feed my horses without having to add grain. I was excited to hear about Stride 101 on a podcast. However, my horses refuse to eat it, even the ones that will usually eat anything I give them.
I have been using this on my 3 horses for about 6 months, they get their feed wetted to a mash so they weren't able to separate it. I started with a 1/4 of the normal serving size for the first 3 days and bumped it up a 1/4 every 3 days until I was at a full dose and had no trouble with my VERY picky eaters not eating their grain -- and they have done it just based off of texture so feeding them this supplement was easy. I got it to be a diet balancer because they are on a forage based diet and noticed a huge difference in their coat, hair, and hoof quality in less than 6 weeks. Now I use this as a staple because I feel it's a great product at an amazing price!
I was hesitant to order this after all the negative reviews. BUT this is a great product! I’ve been feeding it for almost 3 months and have seen an amazing improvement in the horses I have tried it on. I’m very pleased with the dapples I’m still seeing this late into the summer. The trick is SLOWLY adding this to your feed. As in, a 1/4 ration for a week, then a 1/4 ration increase every week until feeding the full ration. My picky eater was more than happy to give this a go and is still eating this with no qualms. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
I have some very fat, non-fussy eaters and I could only get one out of nine to touch this, even with grain added. It doesnt matter how good a supplement is if they wont eat it. It will sit and literally smell up your feed room like dead fish. Save your money. Wish it worked but sadly, no.
I put my pregnant metobolic horse on this and I have had great results and no issues with her refusing to eat it.
My horses are not picky eaters, but they won’t touch this product, either by itself or mixed with anything else. Big bummer to spend this much on a product and not be able to use it.
I love the science behind a lot of the Stride products, and was very excited for this one but unfortunately after trying for several days, even mixed in with other foods, both of my horses refused to eat this product. Hopefully they can improve on the taste in the future. One of my horses is a very picky eater so I was not at all surprised he was not a fan after reading other reviews, but my mare has never turned up her nose at any other food or supplement before.
LOVE this product. Such a low feeding rate but offers a fully fortified option!! Both of my horses eat this without any issue and they look GREAT!
Solid ingredients, but my horse would not eat the pellets. Even mixed with other pellets, fortified feed, or treats.
