Fry friendly
This filter is a remarkable solution for fry and small aquatic setups! This compact marvel is truly impressive. While it may emit a slightly higher noise level than a typical bubble stone, it more than compensates with its gentle yet effective water-purifying capabilities. The sponge efficiently filters out particulates from the water without creating turbulent currents. Designed with small tanks, particularly those of 5.5 gallons or less, in mind, it serves as an excellent shrimp and fry filter. Not only does it perform exceptionally well, but it also adds a touch of aquatic elegance to your setup.
Must have sponge filter
A little noisy/bubbly, but I think my air pump is bigger than recommended for this size tank. Chewy had a big discount so I got it, and I am so glad I did!
not what i thought it was.
There is probably nothing wrong with this.; it’s just not what I thought it was. I was looking for a small pump, and purchased this by mistake.
Useless
Just aerates the water. Does not filter. Doesn't come with a pump and when I attached my air pump it just floats to the top. Had to buy another filter.
Bought for a fry tank
Newly hatched cory cats are tiny and delicate. A traditional filter often sucks them through the filter. The sponge filter allows the water to be filtered without endangering the fry, and also aerates the water.
Doesn't do a good job at filtering the water
Bought everything that was needed hoping this would work well for my sand bottom aquarium but it gets clogged easily and I have to rinse it once a week cuz it sucks the sand up, I've lost more sand with filter than I would with a traditional filter, it also doesn't do a good job at clearing the water
Needs airstone
It was very rough before adding the airstone. I had to cut out part of the plastic core to get it to fit right. The frame does come apart fully, but you really gotta work at it.
No parts included
The filters I bought came with half the material to set it up.

Doesn't work like I was hoping
I am not sure what I should expect from a sponge filter but it definitely did not compare to a traditional carbon tank filter or something similar. The water remained unchanged with no improvement in clarity. All this did was agitate the water. I had it on the recommended air pump size 10 with the airline tubing.. so everything worked but as far as filtering the water goes this seems like a poor design?
