PREPARING YOUR CHOLLA WOOD — SunGrow Cholla Wood is a thorn-free log. Shrimp, fry, pleco, hermit crabs, fishes, even reptiles and birds love Cholla wood. PREPARATION: Before placing the product in the aquarium, rinse before use, even after boiling or soaking. A "post-boil soak" in fresh water with a bag of activated carbon is a recommended step, too.

I cancel my order because read that the Cholla Wood In Aquarium only last between 7 to 14 months? Is that true? Is there any woods that you see last at least 5 years? Thanks

Cholla wood is used more for its biofilm for Shrimps and beneficial tannin release, than its longevity. If you are looking for long lasting aquarium driftwood, you can try boiled Manzanita driftwood. This can last even a decade in aquariums, if used well. Please do your due diligence to make sure this is suitable for your needs.

Would this work for my ball python?

Can this wood be used for spiders as well?because I have a Goliath bird eating tarantula and she needs something to climb on.

Crabs love them

They arrived in a pretty dirty plastic bag, and I was skeptical due to presentation BUT once I soaked and rinsed them in aquarium salt water they looked perfect

They arrived in a pretty dirty plastic bag, and I was skeptical due to presentation BUT once I soaked and rinsed them in aquarium salt water they looked perfect. They perform perfect. My crabs love them. After receiving them I learned what this “wood” is made of, and realized the material would probably make any pretty packaging dingy, so the presentation ceased to matter. I would buy them again.

Small for snakes

These are a lot smaller than I imagined especially in a 40 gallon, but I can probably set it up in a way my snake can use it.

I bought these for my aquarium! I rinsed them since they were a little dusty and then I boiled them for a couple of minutes for them to sink easier. The water turns dark when you boil the cholla woods - I used this as a tannin booster for my tropical fish and as a ph softener. Overall I am pleased with these pieces of cholla wood!
