About Taste of the Wild Dog Food

The Diet Nature Intended

They might not be wolves or coyotes, but today's domestic dogs share the same ancestral cravings. To satisfy these instinctual appetites, Taste of the Wild wet and dry formulas are made with real, roasted meat plus fruits, vegetables and legumes that are chosen for their specific health benefits.

Energy That Lasts

Taste of the Wild is made with premium meats like wild boar; buffalo; smoked salmon and turkey; and roasted bison, lamb, quail, venison and duck. Every formula is grain-free and provides lasting energy with complex carbs from sweet potatoes and legumes. These highly digestible proteins and fiber-rich carbohydrates will keep your pup feeling full and energized throughout the day.

Immune System Support

Since 70% of your pet's immune system is found in the gut, it makes sense to choose a food that's good for the digestive tract. Taste of the Wild includes prebiotics and species-specific probiotics with bacteria that's naturally found in a dog's GI tract. The proprietary K9 Strain probiotics are added after the kibble is cooked so your dog gets guaranteed live, active cultures that support healthy digestion.

Maximizing Nutrient Absorption

To help your pet's body absorb all of the beneficial minerals in her food, Taste of the Wild recipes have chelated minerals. That means they can easily attach to proteins for absorption during digestion. So your canine pal will enjoy the full value of every carefully selected mineral that these foods have to offer.

Perfectly Balanced Omegas

Taste of the Wild gives your pup just the right dose of omega fatty acids in every bite. Marine-sourced omega-3 comes from salmon oil, smoked salmon or ocean fish meal, or a combination of these ingredients. Omega-6 from plant sources balance out the omega-3s, and they work together to help maintain your pet's skin and coat health and to support overall wellness.

Ingredients for Better Health

The powerful superfood trio of blueberries, raspberries and tomatoes can be found in every delicious recipe, along with their immune-boosting properties.

TOMATOES AND TOMATO POMACE

Help support overall health by providing vitamin C, soluble fiber and rich in concentrated lycopene, a premier antioxidant.

BLUEBERRIES

Antioxidant-rich superfood that's full of flavor and loaded with vitamins C and E, healthy carbs, dietary fiber and manganese.

RASPBERRIES

Delicious berries packed with potassium, manganese, copper, iron and magnesium, and they also provide fiber and antioxidants.

How much to feed based on age and weight?

Answer by ChewyJan 27, 2019
Please see the image below for reference. This chart may also be found on the “Feeding Instructions” tab, next to the “Nutritional Info” tab, just under the product photos.

Is your food made using high temperatures and pressure ? I am concerned about toxic chemicals being created with is process.

Answer by ChewyOct 01, 2018
The food is manufactured using a process called extrusion. The extruder operates like a large, continuous flow, pressure cooker. The ingredients are cooked by using heat (185 degrees Fahrenheit), pressure, and mechanical shear. As the product exits the extruder it passes through a die that gives the kibble its shape. A knife cuts the kibble to the correct length. The product is dried to a moisture of 8-10%, is screened, and then a flavoring enhancer is applied. The product is screened again and then packaged.

Would you please post an ingredient picture as well as the protein ratio for this and all of your dog foods. It is essential to have this information when comparing products on-line. Thank you.

Perfect size for my Chihuahua

The food I normally order for my little one was out of stock, so I searched for more in the grain-free genre. I used to buy Taste of the Wild for my 140 lbs boy

The food I normally order for my little one was out of stock, so I searched for more in the grain-free genre. I used to buy Taste of the Wild for my 140 lbs boy when he was alive so I know the brand. Not only does little Jen love it, I appreciate the kibble size being even smaller than my previous brand, making it easier for the poor itty bitty thing to chew. This is a keeper and I've already switched out my old autoship for TOTW going forward.

My dog is a reformed street rat aka a chihuahua mix from a shelter. I got him 3 years ago and his coat was dull and rough. This food has changed all of that! He looks phenomenal, loves eating it, and the price is right for something on the better side of kibble. My dog is able to maintain a really healthy weight and coat.

My one year old Cavapoo transitioned quickly to this new food.

I had tried 4 different kinds of dry food hoping to decrease her continued scratching. After only a week on this food, she has almost totally stopped scratching

No stomach issues

Seems like a good dry dog food. I've been feeding my dogs a different brand, but Taste Of The Wild seems to make my dogs poop more but other than that, no diarrhea
