About Taste of the Wild Cat Food

The Diet Nature Intended

They might not be cheetahs or lions, but today's domestic cats share the same ancestral cravings. To satisfy these instinctual appetites, Taste of the Wild wet and dry formulas are made with real, roasted meat plus fruits, vegetables and legumes that are chosen for their specific health benefits.

Energy That Lasts

Taste of the Wild is made with premium fish and meats like smoke-flavored salmon, trout, ocean fish, roasted venison and chicken. Every formula is grain-free and provides lasting energy with complex carbs from sweet potatoes and legumes. These highly digestible proteins and fiber-rich carbohydrates will keep your pet feeling full and energized throughout the day.

Immune System Support

Since 70% of your pet's immune system is found in the gut, it makes sense to choose a food that's good for the digestive tract. Taste of the Wild includes prebiotics and species-specific probiotics with bacteria that's naturally found in a cat's GI tract. The proprietary Viables probiotics are added after the kibble is cooked so your cat gets guaranteed live, active cultures that support healthy digestion.

Maximizing Nutrient Absorption

To help your pet's body absorb all of the beneficial minerals in her food, Taste of the Wild recipes have chelated minerals. That means they can easily attach to proteins for absorption during digestion. So your kitty will enjoy the full value of every carefully selected mineral that these foods have to offer.

Perfectly Balanced Omegas

Taste of the Wild gives your little wildcat just the right dose of omega fatty acids in every bite. Marine-sourced omega-3 comes from smoke-flavored salmon or ocean fish, or a combination of these ingredients. Omega-6 from plant sources balance out the omega-3s, and they work together to help maintain your pet's skin and coat health and to support overall wellness.

Ingredients for Better Health

The powerful superfood trio of blueberries, raspberries and tomatoes can be found in every delicious recipe, along with their immune-boosting properties.

TOMATOES AND TOMATO POMACE: Help support overall health by providing vitamin C, soluble fiber and rich in concentrated lycopene, a premier antioxidant.

BLUEBERRIES: Antioxidant-rich superfood that's full of flavor and loaded with vitamins C and E, healthy carbs, dietary fiber and manganese.

RASPBERRIES: Delicious berries packed with potassium, manganese, copper, iron and magnesium, and they also provide fiber and antioxidants.

Answer by ChewyMar 03, 2018
Taste of the Wild has five manufacturing facilities, all located in the United States: two in California, one in Missouri, one in South Carolina and one in Arkansas. Taste of the Wild uses some ingredients that are not USA sourced. The lamb from New Zealand, lamb meal and venison from Australia, duck meal from France, potato protein from Germany and dried chicory root from Belgium. There are ingredients that are critical to the formulations (i.e. folic acid and taurine) that can only be sourced out of China.

About how many cups is in the 14-lb bag?

Answer by ChewyFeb 11, 2019
The 5 pound bag contains 20 cups and the 14 pound bag contains 56 cups of kibble.

What percentage of the protein is from meat?

Answer by ChewyJan 22, 2020
Due to the pet food industry being a very competitive business, companies want to keep their recipes proprietary at the risk of them being copied by others. The percentage of protein from an animal source is considered proprietary information. The overall protein in this formula is 42% min. The first two ingredients are Chicken meal, peas, therefore making up a majority of the protein content in this formula.

I got a bad batch. It was well within date, but after putting it out, all my cats got sick and were throwing up. I tossed the food, and emailed the company - no reply. Now, 4 days after tossing the food, im putting my 9 yr old cat to sleep. The toxic/bacteria-contaminated/rancid-fatty food triggered pancreatitis. She has fluid around her lungs, body temp dropped, and she went into ketosis. Clearly, whatever was wrong with this food was the trigger. Never buying it again, and im telling everyone else not to, either.

Cats are happy

Ive got 1 cat with very bad allergies and 1 thats fine. Ive gone through a lot of food trying to find one that doesn't make Snowball itch and excessively groom

Ive got 1 cat with very bad allergies and 1 thats fine. Ive gone through a lot of food trying to find one that doesn't make Snowball itch and excessively groom. The prices of cat and dog food are outrageous especially because they claim to be "So healthy" but looking at the ingredients, they are a joke, but better than the cheap stuff. This brand so far has make a difference at least.

My cat will eat it

She's not super excited about it but I will say that she does munch on it in between her pate. She definitely does not go crazy for it like she does the cat treats,

My cats are a huge fan of this Food!

I couldn't believe how much my cats love this food! They aren't the picky types anyway, but I've never seen them chow down so fast on any brand of food like this

Quick Fulfillment

We had run low on the dry cat food and the ease of ordering and quick fulfillment was much appreciated by our staff, and especially our Office Cat - Peanut.

Used for years

I have used Taste of the Wild Rocky Mountain Cat formula for decades! However I recently found out the ash level is a little higher than I want. It's not too bad

I have used Taste of the Wild Rocky Mountain Cat formula for decades! However I recently found out the ash level is a little higher than I want. It's not too bad on carbohydrates but again, there are other foods with lower ash and carbs. I still like this food for my cats and recommend it to my friends and may occasionally buy it still but it's not my go to as before since I've found lower ash/carb cat foods.
