is this litter grain like, pellets, or neither? what makes it low-tracking like pellets but still clumping?

Answer by ChewyOct 06, 2018
The litter is more of a larger grain consistency and is low tracking because it doesn't stick to your cat's paws.

Can cats develop allergies to this litter?

Answer by ChewyOct 16, 2018
Cats having an allergic reaction to litter can happen, but it's most likely cause of the excessive dust, or added fragrance. This litter features virtually dust-free and is unscented.

Is this litter unscented ?

Answer by ChewyMar 21, 2019
This litter is unscented.

What is the difference in the Naturally Fresh Multi Cat Formula (red bag) vs. Naturally Fresh Cat Formula unscented (green bag)?

Answer by ChewyApr 29, 2020
The main difference is that the Multi-Cat Unscented Clumping Walnut Cat Litter (red bag) eliminates both urine and fecal odors with a malodor counteractant. Plus it's intended for a multiple-cat household.

The biggest con about this litter is that it is maintenance. If you have one cat you can get away with not scooping it for a few days, but you should scoop it every 2-3 days or else it will start to stink. Otherwise this is a great litter to use, its an all natural, unscented litter. Yet despite being unscented, because it's made from walnut shells it has a nice walnut scent to it. The litter is low dust (by that I mean it really only has dust when poured into the litter box initially). It's great at clumping and if you keep up with scooping it regularly it is incredibly easy to scoop. The 14lb bag is plenty for me(granted I only have one cat) and lasted about 2-3 months with the occasional full litter change once a month, again with regular scooping. I definitely recommend this litter to other pet owners, it is definitely worth the price and maintenance though!

Unbelievable odor control for 4 cats!

I have 4 cats that use this litter, and everyone is completely happy with it. It traps the odors like no other litter I've ever used. I used to mix cedar and pine pellets (trying to keep it natural and low dust, especially for my asthmatic cat). But, one day I decided to try this. It was comparable to the price I was paying for both cedar and pine, so I gave it a shot. I was so, so happy I did. I used to HATE scooping the litter box, but now, its a breeze because its all clumped up and the odor has been controlled very well. I am SO GLAD I switched. And the smell of the clean litter actually smells good to me. Those that say it smells like wet earth, well maybe that's why I don't mind the smell, because I enjoy gardening...lol.

It’s a decent litter if you’re trying to be sustainable and avoid clay/silica litters but it’s definitely not the best. It seemed to do a well enough job of odor control, but it doesn’t clump very well. You have to be very careful scooping or it will crumble apart. The litter is a little bit dusty, not the end of the world but I probably wouldn’t recommend it if you have an asthmatic cat. Overall I wouldn’t recommend it, there’s sustainable litter options that not only work better but are cheaper if not comparable in price.

I still have this mixed in with clay litter after several weeks of use as one cat of three is still very suspicious of it. What I noticed right away was a reduction in smelliness of used litter. It clumps but not as hard as the clay litters but it's still easy enough to scoop and there is less dust. I am also trying out several grass litters and have not come to a definite conclusion yet comparing this to grass. Wheat litter which has been said to be the best in the past is not an option as my house has to be gluten free.

I have tried all the litters and then found walnut litter. Had no idea there was such a thing but it has been the best in all areas. One of my kitties had horrible allergies to clay litter from the dust. He loves this litter! It also is amazing at keeping the smell to a minimum and has very little tracking. So happy that i can have it on an auto ship as well so I will never run out. Price is better too as I do not need to go through as much as clay litter.

I really enjoy this litter, when they use the bathroom it smells for about 15 minutes or so then goes away and just smells like walnuts. I think the clumping is great ad there is little to no dust, really only a tiny when scooping or pouring new liter in but it doesn't stick to their paws. The only thing I don't love about it is the color, I think with most clumping liters it's hard to really monitor their health but this walnut color might make it even harder.

At first I was skeptic it definitely controls the odor, it clumps nicely and it cleans up nicely. And it's 100% safe for my cats. The only downfall which really doesn't bother me it does leave tiny bit of a brownish all around the litter boxes and in the closet, because it's not harmful. Knowing that my pets and myself are safe without inhaling any toxic fumes I'm not worrying about health problems. I highly recommend this litter

I'm not sure what magical ingredients are in this, but I can't believe it has taken me 40 years to discover crushed walnut litter. It came up at a meeting at the local shelter as an alternative to swheat scoop. Seriously, crushed walnut is the best. It clumps the poo and the urine absorbs in a way that contains the scent fully for more than a week even with multiple older kitten litters mixed together in a larger kennel. I'm never switching back.

It does have dust, but not as bad as the others. I won't be buying it again or even using the rest of the bag.

Love auto ship and have never had an issue until now. Box of cat food was damaged but all cans seem to be in-tact. The litter bag, however, had a big tear in the center so litter is spilling out. Most is still usable so I won’t waste what is left in the bag, just gotta lay it weirdly to not spill further.
