Filter is junk

The filter was extremely loud and the water was overflowing out the side of the filter with the intake tube when brand new cartridges were installed. This is a defective

The filter was extremely loud and the water was overflowing out the side of the filter with the intake tube when brand new cartridges were installed. This is a defective design and far inferior to other Tetra Whisper filters from the past. I would not recommend it. On top of that, Tetra customer service would not refund the price of the filter with their satisfaction guarantee because it was part of the kit. The tank and lid are okay.

Good tank, bad hood and lighting

Tank is good, filter and heater are ok. The hood and lighting are a nightmare.. The hood is very thin and flimsy and the feeding hole opening, that has no cover,

Tank is good, filter and heater are ok. The hood and lighting are a nightmare.. The hood is very thin and flimsy and the feeding hole opening, that has no cover, is large enough for smaller fish to jump through. The lighting oddly attaches to the front frame inside the tank, and you will knock it off every time you try to do anything in the tank. The clips used to attach the lighting and hood to the tank are horrific and will make you say many bad words while trying to install them. That is, once you finally figure out how to. Instructions are not clear enough and you will need to figure it out on your own. I will replace the hood and lighting in the very near future and I will enjoy the tank but I don’t know that I would buy again. A kit isn’t worth the price if you need to replace major components because they are inferior.

WRONG ITEMS IN THE BOX

Ordered and paid for the 20gallon aquarium and received a 20gallon aquarium to give to my wife for Christmas, but the pump/filter included in the box with the 20gallon

Ordered and paid for the 20gallon aquarium and received a 20gallon aquarium to give to my wife for Christmas, but the pump/filter included in the box with the 20gallon aquarium is for a 5-10gallon aquarium. Ruined Christmas morning. Very disappointed.

It's OK, no fish yet or gravel or plants and oh yeah the water. What's really upsetting are the very poor set up instructions. Very vague and haven't found the clips to mount the hood yet. Had to go online to find out about the clips for the lid.....wonder where they are. Small print on the small instruction page, good thing I have bifocals.

This kit is perfect for a beginner, and the right size to get, although I have been doing this aquarium hobby for many years. Adding up the prices separately, this price is great. This is glass, so much easier to clean the algae! I am very familiar with the filter, and the lowest price of the cartridge replacement one can find, get the kit you make it yourself. The hood is functional, hoods w led lights can be expensive separately, even this one. You will need to buy a heater, get one at least 25 watts and a good brand. The aquarium hobby nowadays recommends 1 inch of fish per gallon of water, if you keep to that limit you will not need to clean the aquarium very often. I the past I have pushed the limit, added filtration, plants, but it is more work than you want to do! Tetra Min that they start you off with is a great flake food for aquariums.
