When sized correctly and properly put on with a soothingly snug fit, your cat should nbe very comfortable. If your cat will be wearing a ThunderShirt n for more than one hour at a time, we recommend removing nThunderShirt n every one to two hours during the initial periods to check for any signs of irritation points. After confirming no irritation points during initial uses for extended periods, we recommend that nyou still remove the ThunderShirt n at least twice a day for thirty minutes. INHIBITED MOBILITY: If your cat shows signs of inhibited mobility with her ThunderShirt n on after wearing it for one hour and nencouraging movement (e.g. unable to jump or walk as usual), we do not recommend using ThunderShirt n for extended periods n(e.g. longer than 1-2 hours) for your cat.

I ordered a large because I have a Maine coon. It fit around his chest, but the front band was much too wide and interfered with his walking. There was no way to adjust it. He has very long legs and body, but not a deep front chest. It was completely useless because it disturbed him to be on. I have successfully put a harness on him for going outside. I had a "comfort shirt" from another company that I had bought for my Sheltie and that was a little better, but not great. The fabric and construction on the ThunderShirt seems too stiff. The other one I have is a softer knit and more accommodating.
My cat is five, and though I’ve had him since he’s 10 months old, whatever trauma, he went through as a kitten, still haunts him. He’s extremely skittish, afraid of people and noises. I bought this in preparation for July 4. He wanted no part of it, but little by little I drew him to it with treats. He started sleeping on it. I tried to cover him with it, and that wouldn’t work. Eventually, I just went for it. It’s not the easiest thing to get onto a stubborn animal. The first time I tried, he was out of it within five minutes. OK, the fold was mine for not securing it tightly enough. When the fourth arrived, and the noise began, we were ready. At first, Shadow didn’t know what to make of this thing that was holding him close. He didn’t try to get out of it, and no, the noise still bothered him, he was much calmer than he otherwise would have been. I will say, however, that it is rather difficult to get on.
The large that was recommended for my lean 13lb Boy was way too big, but the medium is much too small, and neither had any calming effect. I don't know whether the poor fit is to blame, or if my cat wouldn't have responded favorably regardless, but our whole experience with Thundershirts has been stressful, expensive and disappointing.
I originally ordered the medium for my cat based on the sizing recommendations. It was way too small, and Chewy was amazing about exchanging for the large. I was so excited because I love the thundershirt for my dog. But the cat large is way too big for my cat. I’m really bummed that the sizing is so wonky. Also, as a note, there is no removable collar on either one, so don’t purchase assuming they will have that feature.
My cat's been having more and more anxiety as he's gotten older. Loud noises like thunderstorms, fireworks, and sirens make him jump, so I wanted to have something like this on hand if we needed it. He's okay wearing it for about 5 minutes but at the 10 min mark gets a little roly-poly "can't walk, get this off me." We'll keep trying. He tolerates it much better than sweaters/harness, so I'm optimistic.
My cat was very uncomfortable and he couldn’t even walk or jump in this vest. A little cat hoodie sweater works better than this item. I ended up getting a refund and donating it.
My boys look so cute in their matching thunder shirts. Definitely helps during storms! Tony (kitty) is still getting used to it, he is very dramatic walking in it, but he does seem calm laying down in it. Mikey (dog) is a long time user, and loves his vest, he is very proud of his brother wearing this with him!
My youngest cat gets very skittish, after a thunderstorm where she spent over an hour with me under the covers scared I decided to get this before Fourth of July. I’m so glad I did, as soon as she started getting skittish I put this on and she was relaxed the rest of the evening with me. Cleaned her paws, ate and snoozed just like she normally would. So grateful for this!
This anxiety vest has helped two of my four cats with adjusting to a new home, a new pet, and lots of new changes in their life. This is easy to put on. The Velcro sound does make my cats a little nervous, but it is much quicker then trying buttons or zippers.
Our new kitten has been high strung since the day we got him. Night time was a nightmare. Since getting the Anxiety Vest he is so relaxed at nighttime now! It is almost too good to be true but it is. He stays in the Anxiety Vest from 10 pm to about 5 am. I wished I had this 4 months ago. Highly recommend!
