Can this ramp be left outdoors?

Answer by CeenFeb 27, 2025
I leave ours on the porch after use. I do leave it next to my parking space for reuse after we get home. We have a 94lb OEB who had both knees damaged, hip dysplasia & arthritis. She's extremely leary of new things. I placed it on the ground & led her over it several times to get use to it. I then put it onto the ledge of the back seat floor boards & pretended to walk up it with my foot & then patted the seat. She eyed it a bit & it took a couple of tries, but she now goes up & down with ease. At one point on a trip with a friend, she got out of my truck, barked at my friend & then ran up & down it several times as if to say, " Look at what I can do-" The hinge is capped by a push thru rod with an end plug thats capped. It apparently popped off on one end & disappeared into the abyss of the world as it had worked loose on one side. I just make sure I push the other side if it slides a bit thru(.5 in) & with ease when it does. I've been using it for 5 years & couldn't be without it...or her !

Is this for use in a back loading SUV or can it be used to load into a regular 4 door car?

How does this stay on car

Answer by ChewyMay 20, 2020
Trixie Two-Fold Dog Ramp has a lip that catches on car as well as having non-slip rubber feet to keep the ramp in place.

Very steep ramp that is very wobbly and causes dogs to get freaked out. Also, the grip tape is SO grippy it scraped my dogs’ paw pads up and also my car, my nails, their nails, snagged my clothes etc. There are a ton of these for sale used and now it makes sense as to why. Basically useless for a dog with any nerves. Going to liquid nail some carpet to the ramp and put it in my passenger door vs the hatch and see if the shallow angle and new surface help.

I bought this to help my 14-year old dog get in and out of the car, but it is unusable in our case. My girl rides in the back seat, but the doors of my smallish SUV do not open wide enough for this ramp to fit and allow her access. I'm giving it two stars because it seems solidly built, and it might work if you are going to use it for entry through the back of a vehicle. But it is sadly a no-go for us. I will need to keep picking her up for the time being (which she doesn't love).

Trixie car ramp makes great sofa ramp

I was afraid it might not "grab" the fabric on the couch, but it stays steady. We have a secure rug to also keep the bottom in place. This was a great value for

Can do a good job

My senior dog wasn't steady enough on his legs to use this. As is usually the case with chewy, they just had me keep it. I donated it and expect it's helping someone

The box had a huge tear across the front, like someone took a knife to it.

I didn't need the ramp right away so did not open the box until recently. The ramp was dirty as if a dog had jumped or slid on it with dirty paws! Plus it was scratched. It was obviously used, boxed back up, and sent to me. You could also see it was re-taped. And, my dog will NOT use it so am requesting a refund.

Poor design and quality

The "safety latch" was found broken completely off when I opened the box. Design tolerances resulted at least with this example that the ramp could not open completely

Good grip for traction

Well, Rosie won't use it, she is having lower back issues and I think the incline just aggravates her pain. Also the hook on the ramp arrived broken and it looked

Textured surface!!

Love the fact that it only has one fold and the textured surface is great. However, Sare is not quite sure about it yet. She almost made it to the car, but chickened

Love the fact that it only has one fold and the textured surface is great. However, Sare is not quite sure about it yet. She almost made it to the car, but chickened out at the last minute. We’ll keep trying though, we have to get her to trust it to go the groomer and the vet or to see GG. (Great grandma)
