My lab is super prone to ear infections, and I've been trying different ear wipes to find one that he and I both don't mind. So far, these have been the best for us. My dog ducked his head to express his desire to avoid other ear wipes, but these he doesn't seem to mind as much. They're gentle enough to use multiple times per week, if need be. Some of the harsher, medicated wipes I've used picked up a tiny bit more wax/dirt than these wipes, but not enough to make them worth my dog's cringing and ducking, and my frustration. For me, these are the goldilocks size of ear wipes: not too large, and not too small (a little over 3 inches in diameter). The baby-wipe sized ear wipes had too much excess material, and the 2.5"-diameter wipes were hard for my fat fingers to hold onto while getting into the nooks and crannies of his outer ear. These pads are textured on one side and smooth on the other. If you're worried about the quilted texture irritating your dog's ears, you can use the smooth side, and the texture will give your fingers a little extra grip. Or you can use the textured side against the ear, if you want to get a tiny bit stronger cleaning. They won't clear an ear infection alone, but they're great for wiping away wax and dirt that might otherwise contribute to ear infections. I'd recommend these to anyone concerned about gunk in their dogs' outer ears.
