Compounding is a way for licensed pharmacists to create a customized medication that meets your pets specific needs. Compounding pharmacists mix or change one or more FDA-approved medications to prepare a special medication for your pet. For example, if a medication is only available in pill form, the pharmacist might create it in liquid, gel, or capsule form.
Your pet may have a specific health need that cannot be addressed by an FDA-approved drug. For example:
Always talk with your veterinarian about any concerns you have about your pets health so they can prescribe a treatment for your pets unique needs.

It is not required to have a written prescription on hand when you place your order, but Chewy Pharmacy must have a patient-specific prescription from a licensed veterinarian on file before it can dispense a medication. At checkout, simply select: I want Chewy to contact my vet, and we will contact your veterinarian on your behalf to get your pets prescription. If you prefer and have a written prescription when you place your order, you can mail it to: Chewy Pharmacy, 3621 Fern Valley Rd, Louisville, KY 40219. Mailing in a prescription will likely lead to longer ship times.

The doctor recommended the medicine and they provided it. They contacted the vet directly so I did not have to worry about anything.
These are the correct dosage for my little dog. However, the packaging is to push out the tablet and this is difficult. This packaging needs some work by the manufacturer. You can pop out 3-4 instead of just one. The foil on the backside doesn't break quickly or sometimes too quickly where you get 2-4 instead of just one. It's not helpful, so I cut the entire package out and put into a zip-lock baggie instead.
The medicine we needed was recommended by our vet but had to be compounded at chewy pharmacy per our vet’s recommendation. We received it promptly at a much lower price than our vet could have offered plus the vet did not have it in stock. Chewy’s pharmacy team was helpful and professional. I also get our dogs’ heartworm and flea medicines and dog food at Chewy. Chewy is really a one stop shop.
My pet loves the flavor or these and takes like a real treat, however they are not really soft and as a senior, has a hard time chewing them. The foil pack is bad packaging ..its nice they are individually wrapped but the foil is very thin and weak and often tears across other pills.
Great option for many people looking for compounded sizes when availability is limited in people pharmacies. I called all over and could not find the size we needed available, thus we opted to have it compounded and Chewy.com promised quickest shipping and most bang for our buck. The chew itself is a bit tough for my senior so I cut it up into 4 pieces, it could be softer but then again this is a medicine and not a treat so I am not even sure if a softer recipe is possible or if it would compromise the integrity of the RX. The foil blister packaging is tricky to break off because each chew is in a individual square that is perforated to be broken off but sometimes you end up breaking off the squares next to it and accidentally punchuring the foil on more than one chew. All user error aside, great option for compounding. Would be great if possibiltiy of softer chew comes to fruition, could improve packaging but the main thing is that the drug is accurate and available. No complaints.
