Van Ness Translucent Enclosed Cat Litter Pan

My cat Mao-Mao has been presenting me with her idea of having fun while she's taking care of business; she's been flinging her litter all over the bathroom!! So, I was forced to look for a covered litter box. It is my hope (with my fingers crossed) that a covered litter would (hopefully) keep her from getting all of her "business" from going outside the box. So far, so good! Luckily no litter can get out where the top portion of the box meets the bottom portion the hood. I didn't want her feeling locked in with the cover having a door so I removed the door. I'm happy to say that she's no longer getting litter everywhere. I had a little box from Van Ness before and it lasted a long time (like 10-15 years), but it was time to replace it. I purchased this because of the quality I expected from this company and because of the nice appearance. I really got what I paid for. I should have learned after the first one arrived and was cracked in at least places, making it unusable. Chewy replaced it for free (Chewy is awesome!) no questions asked. The new one arrived without damage, but one of the fasteners on the side doesn't stay closed, so it is hard to pick up the container. It has also already cracked after only 2-3 months. I am SO disappointed. Overall excellent idea, poor implementation. Small enough to fit next to toilet in my apartment and clear top allows for quick visible confirmation of where the cat is. Arrived with missing latch on one out of the four corners, and broken latch plastic in the area of the latch, which makes carrying handle obsolete. Door functions as intended.

First, I love Chewy. Second, I have several other VanNess products I like. That said, these were the cheapest litter pans I ever owned, and I've owned a lot of boxes since Kitters in 1974. As I set up the first, my grandson knocked the others off the table, and it looked like two of the tops broke. I contacted Chewy, and of course was given a credit and told to donate the broken boxes. Later, after undoing all the zip ties, I found all three tops had broken, (one latch unusable on each), and both boxes cracked at the corner as well. They were in bad enough shape, I was embarrassed to donate them. I used the third until I made the mistake of picking up the box with about an inch of litter in First, I love Chewy. Purchased one of these about a yr and a half ago along with an xl catit covered pan for my 4 large cats and I also have another brand medium size pan. All 4 preferred this Van Ness over the other two so I finally gave in and ordered two more of these to replace the other brands. One was damaged upon delivery but was quickly replaced by customer service. I have never had a problem with the pan breaking during use and don't expect to have with the 2 new ones. I do not pick them up by the handle when full of litter, I take top off and lift pan. I have bought two of these (size XL) over the last year. My cats used it just fine, and the size was good (hence 2 stars instead of one), but the plastic is too thin/flimsy on the top part. They broke the first one after using for several months - not sure how, it was cracked when I got home one day. I thought it was a fluke, so I ordered the same one to replace it. Two months later, this one's top cracked too. One of my cats has taken to jumping onto the litter box from the cat tree, so after 3 jumps, the top is shattered to pieces. I need the cover because they kick litter all over the place without one.

good size cats took to it before I had it set up door came off 2x while setting up and I didn't know if my trio would like the door (current boxes did not have)... so It comes of real easy if you don't want one Excellent so far getting another came in like 24 hours

I was knocking the bottom on my trash can to get stuff out of the bottom and cracked it about 5 days after I got it. It is now wrapped with tape around the bottom to hold it together

Purchased 2 of these. I like the top being translucent. The size is great. On either of the litter boxes the lids will not snap securely so the top is able to come off and the urine can leak to the outside. The litter scoops easily as stated in the item description.

First one I ordered, came cracked completely on top,( Shipping and packing issue). Chewy was nice and sent out another one the next day. It came with a tiny crack by the side lock, but not a problem. Coonie has used it for 3 years and loves it. She is almost 20 pounds and so I took the flap off. The bottom on this one now has broke and I am ordering another one. Love their products. Very easy to clean.
