Answer by ChewyJul 09, 2018
The non-drowsy formula uses alpha-casozepine, a natural ingredient found in cow’s milk, to help balance the stress reactions of dogs safely and with no tranquilizing or sedating effects. We suggest consulting with your vet before supplementing this with an additional behavior support alternatives.

When are you supposed to give this to your dog if you’re flying?

Answer by ChewyAug 03, 2018
Short-term use: Use Zylkene for 1 - 2 days before a planned event or change in environment. Some animals may need earlier administration (5 - 7 days).

Can this be given daily long term? Can dogs build up a tolerance if given daily? Or should it be used for times of high stress?

Answer by ChewyJan 07, 2020
This product is intended for intermittent or supplemental feeding only. Consult your veterinarian before giving your pet Zylkene. Follow the recommended administration on the package, unless otherwise instructed by your veterinarian.

My Golden Retriever is very reactive and has PTSD from falling down our stairs twice. Ive had him on prescription meds for about 4 months and didnt really work for him. Ive done CBD and other holistic remedies I tried Zylkene and in two days I saw a slight difference. Its been 2 weeks now and with some tweaks in how we react to his anxiousness he's doing so much better. Finally a natural remedy that works for him

On the recommendation of our veterinarian, we tried this for our 43 pound rescue that we’ve had for a year. She has made tremendous gains over this year, but Zylkene, at half the dose for her weight, has been a game changer. She walks more and spends less time sniffing which I know was calming for her, but meant she wasn’t getting as much exercise. She is less bothered by truck noises and people she doesn’t know. The ONLY fault I find is with the packaging. Is there seriously not a more efficient way to send this tiny bottle when it’s the only thing in my order?

My dog anxiety worsens with each year. I try to give her Rx-Trazadone sparingly as she has myasthenia gravis so need to be careful with drugs. In the past the OTC calming pills have worked but now, no so much. My vet recommended the Vetoquinol & I saw improvement almost immediately. Is she a 100% chill dog - never! She's a border collie, LOL. But compared with my other 2 "chill" border collies she's as chill as she can be during fireworks & thunderstorms.

We were adopted by a dog who was found wandering for no one knows how long. She came with a lot of emotional issues and the vet at rescue had prescribed trazodone. I wanted to get her off of the medication and onto something healthier. This is a remarkable item. The change in her behavior been enlarged part from the medication, calming her enough to accept our love and attention. We highly recommend this to others who have similar problems with their dogs. It is healthy and our vet was happy to see her off the other medication.

Wish it worked better

I got this as my vet and I noticed my dog having pretty bad anxiety (he’s a husky) with that being said he is my younger husky just a tab bit over two years old and me and my vet did not want to put him on medication if a supplement would help and or benefit trey. I got two different supplements and for the price I would skip out on this one I tried him on each one for 30 days to see which one would help trey more and this one was also harder for me to administer as this is a capsule as the other is a chewable tablet in this case Trey think the other one is a treat. But over all I really wished this work and hope this benefits your dog if you choose to purchase!

Pretty good!

This worked pretty good. I gave it with her food before a rain storm. She was way more calm. I gave the whole capsule but you can open capsule and serve as a powder

Not sure of the effect

This might work on other dogs but didn’t seem to help my foster dog.

This product was recommended by a Veterinary Behavioralist. I initially purchased the 75 mg for my 15 lb. cat and gave 2 capsules 1 x day. The vet recommended giving 1/2 225 mg. 1 x day. The 75 mg. 2 times a day worked best. I will be going back to that with Vet's approval.

This works for my pup!

I like that it’s a very natural source, made from a milk source. My pup tolerated this very well. Highly recommend!
