Can the taurine capsule be opened and sprinkled on food?
Answer by ChewyAug 06, 2018
This capsule can be opened and sprinkled over food.

Would this benefit a dog currently undergoing heartworm treatment?
Answer by ChewyAug 11, 2017
This supplement will absolutely support heart muscles and cardiovascular functions, as well as reduce oxidative stress and support circulation and better oxygen utilization, but because your pup has a diagnosed medical condition you'll need to reach out to your vet before adding anything to their diet to ensure it fits into the treatment plan.

Can I give this with the VetriScience senior multivitamin everyday? or should I only give one or the other?
Answer by ChewyJul 23, 2019
This capsule is recommended to be given daily. If more than one is given, it must be divided between the morning and night.

Is this a capsule shaped pill that can be cut, or a capsule that would need to be broken open to use less than one capsule?
Answer by ChewySep 30, 2018
This tablet is able to be broken open.

Very Happy

My vet noticed a year ago that my senior cat (13 yrs) had developed a slight heart murmur. I had an echo done by a heart specialist who determined it was not significant enough to require medication but to recheck in a year. I started this supplement last year during all of this. Fast forward to NOW...a year later.. we went back in to the same vet for a checkup and they couldnt hear the murmur. Nothing changed in our lives except me giving him one capsule daily sprinkled in his wet food. Did this help? Well..... something did!

Good supplement

Very good ingredients. My Gunner is doing well. The problem is the delivery system. Very hard to get a Chihuahua to take a large capsule, so I open the capsule and sprinkle it over a healthy treat. VERY hard to open this capsule! Would like this formula better if it was in a chew. Otherwise, a very good supplement.

Cat had soft stool after taking it

The old formula was sort of a dark paste. My 4-year old cat took it several days a week without any issue. This year when I purchased a new bottle the formula changed to light colored powder. Same dose and frequency I’ve observed my cat having soft stool after taking this supplement.

Made my dog dizzy and stumble. I had never seen him do that before.

Designed towards larger dogs

Any cat or small dog would have problems taking this supplement, it’s huge. The powder isn’t palatable so I can’t use it.

Too big to review

Unfortunately we couldn’t even give this to our dog to see if it would work because it’s too big to put down his throat. I tried opening it up and putting it in his food. But he didn’t like the smell and wouldn’t even taste it.

Coincidental maybe but works

I think this is buffering my kid's heart issue. I add it with his raw food as supplement because I have always been impressed by their product. My dog hasn't had DCM yet. But his littermate has passed recently from it. I mean there's other factor I believe that can also get it like diet, weight, excercise, genetic, but I do think this is one of the keys that has helped.

Thoughts on this supplement

I originally bought this for my one dog. I was not pleased with the dosing instructions because it was unclear rather a pill should be split for animals smaller than 30 pounds. These pills have a weird smell and are very inconsistent in consistency. Some have pale yellow powder inside, some have stuck together orange clumps. I don't think the taste is pleasant to them as the smell is not great. Will they eat their food, yes but not as well as when this supplement is not in it. My cats take a lysine supplement and they love that it has added flavor. I don't think this has any. There is no real noticable difference in any of my pets. Not enough of each vitamin to do any difference in my opinion after researching and learning more. Also the supplement powder gets all over my hands when I open the capsule which sucks.

This supplement saved my dog’s life.

This supplement saved my dog’s life from mitral valve cardio and possible DCM. She has so far lived nearly 5 years beyond what they said she would’ve lived. If you have goo inside it is because there is a chemical change (such as opening and closing the bottle) and it becomes gummy over time. Keep in a dry place and when this happens just use a toothpick to pick it out. The product is just as effective and it does not mean it has gone bad. I do wish this company would make this product in powder form. I agree it’s a pain when you get a gummy capsule.
