What is the difference between the minnows for cats and the minnows for dogs?
Answer by • Jun 27, 2018
The only notable difference is the size of the bags available. Both the dog and cat versions have identical nutritional value
Are minnows actually anchovy?
Answer by • Dec 20, 2018
Minnows and Anchovies are not the same type of fish. An anchovy is a small common forage fish of the family Engraulidae while Minnow is the common name for a number of species of small freshwater fish, belonging to the family Cyprinidae.
Aren't these the same as the minnows for dogs except half the size?
Answer by • Oct 25, 2017
These are 100% freeze-dried minnows, safe to be used by all pets.
Where are these freeze-dried? Is any part of this process affiliated with China? And does the same to for the salmon freeze-dried treats?
Answer by • Mar 28, 2022
All Vital Essentials treats are sources and manufactured in the USA.
My cats LOVE these treats. We've tried the other varieties and they love them, too. But I find the minnows hilarious. Brings back memories of fishing with my dad. I usually scatter the treats around so the cats can hunt them. Unlike some other treats, there's no dust left behind after the treats are gobbled up.

Cats are obsessed
I’ve tried freeze dried treats before and my cats weren’t huge fans. But something about this brand makes them go FERAL. It’s a great treat to reward them after they get flea medicine put on or their teeth brushed. There’s a substantial amount of minnows in the 0.5 oz bag too, enough to last a good while even giving them to two cats semi-regularly. I’ll definitely be buying more in the future.

Tux and Shoes approve!
I used to order these for my Pearl-cat but none of the other cats in the house liked them, so when Pearl passed away, I donated the packages I had to a local rescue.
Earlier this month, you (Chewy) offered a deal on these so I decided to try again with the newest kitties in the house (Tux and Shoes) and they definitely approve! So we will be ordering these from now on for adding to their meals.

First time customer
These are more pricey than I would normally buy for my Ninja Kitty. I was given some last Christmas and my Ninja Kitty LOVED them! Because of the introductory offer I had received, I decided to get some more. I will be ordering this item in the future!

Rejected by 3 cats
I gave them to my cat, who is not particularly fussy. He smelled them, tried to bite one, spit it out and then just stared at me. I gave the rest of the bag to a friend for his 2 cats, and both of those cats rejected them also.

the best ones
out of all the freeze dried treats I bought these were the biggest hit. my 1 year old is obsessed, her 2 older siblings were uninterested until they saw her eating them. my only complaint is I feel like it doesn't come with a lot of treats in the bag

Just treats, not dinner Petey!
Petey looooves these crunchy, ugly, little desiccated-deliciousnesses with their eyes and tails still intact. Not for the faint-hearted but certainly better than some of the other things this little half-wild Texas Forest Cat has dragged into the house. Our feline fur-friends, though mostly domesticated, are still metabolically desperate for live, wild raw-meat. This is as close as they can usually get to it. These do require washing down with a drink afterward. They are as described, freeze-dried raw. Highly recommend. Especially if your cat is confined indoors and can't provide necessary raw, live food for health.

Kitty Was Not Impressed
I really thought my cat would enjoys these! She loves vital treats but unfortunately she did not care for these. She played with it for a little, and refused to eat her wet food that had a few minnows in it, until I took them out. I'm hoping she'll change her mind!

Picky cat approves!
My kitty sniffed it for a few seconds and then chomped it down. She is very picky about her food. Took about 5 tries each to find a good wet food, dry food, treat. So I was excited to see her eat this.

No
Bella & Clara my fur babies would not touch this. They looked at me like I must be either crazy or joking, even my feral I feed passed on it. Either the possum or raccoon did eat it though.
