Questions & Answers

Please inform me as to what is chicken and turkey "meal"?

Answer by ChewyMar 08, 2018
Meal is made by grinding the protein after it has been rendered (cooked in a stew-like way but at high temperatures) and then dried so it'll contain a higher protein content and low moisture which helps provide the pet with the most nutritional value on the food.

I’m getting a chihuahua puppy will the 26 lb bag expire before she eats it all.

Answer by ChewyOct 08, 2019
Ideally, dry dog food should be consumed within six weeks of opening the bag. There will be approximately 4 cups of kibble per pound. The 4 pound bag will have close to 16 cups, the 12 pound bag close to 48 cups and the 26 pound bag close to 104 cups. We recommend comparing how much your pet(s) will consume in that time to the appropriate bag size, so that it maintains its freshness.

For an English bulldog puppy would you recommend this puppy food or the large breed version?

Answer by ChewyAug 15, 2018
This food is formulated for all breed sizes, so it would be suitable for a medium breed such as an English bulldog.

How long does this food stay fresh?

Answer by ChewyFeb 09, 2021
An unopened bag of food will last until the expiration date stamped on the bag. Ideally, dry food and treats should be consumed within 6-8 weeks of opening the bag. Exposure to air, light, hot temperatures and humidity speeds up the rate at which foods degrade. To limit these effects, keep dry foods in their original packaging and store in a cool, dry location.

My 2 - 6 week old lab pups will not eat this . I can see why , it stinks and I would not recommend this unless you have your dog taste test before you buy .

Not happy puppy

My puppy did not like it. Now I'm doing research and find that maybe grain free is not the best option. I asked my vet and she told me the same .

Old puppy kibble, near expiration date.

Puppy kibble/dry food should be fresh enough to have an expiration date of at least one year from purchase. But, the last two bags (12 lb.) I’ve received were dated

Puppy food

Nothing wrong with the food. It was just that our puppy doesn't tolerate chicken very well. For dogs that can handle chicken, this is good food.
