Questions & Answers

My dog is medium size - 52 lbs. Can I give her Wellness Core large breed?
Answer by ChewyOct 23, 2017
You can feed your pup this food. For dogs between 50 - 60 pounds feel free to feed him 3¼ - 3⅔ cups a day.

The calcium and phosphorus content is listed as 1.3% minimum and 0.9% minimum. What is the maximum value for each of these nutrients? Large breed puppies are restricted to a specific maximum and minimum range for these two nutrients.
Answer by ChewyJan 30, 2018
The exact Phosphorus content in this formula is 1.03% as fed and 1.12% on a dry matter basis. The exact Calcium content is 1.26% as fed and 1.37% on a dry matter basis.

Dog Gained Weight

I walk this dog religiously but when I switched him to this food from Nulo (Nulo is only grain-free and we now know that's not good for dogs) he started putting on weight. Anybody else have this issue?

Good Alternative

I have been feeding another brand for years, but due to a recent formula change, my very sensitive stomach pup couldn't stomach the new formula. Wellness Chicken and Brown Rice formula is very similar in ingredients to the other brand formula I fed... seems to be working out fine.

Dog ABSOLUTELY loves

Murphy was on Royal canine for golden retrievers but was having alot of issues. I think they changed the formula because for 2 years nothing (2018) then in (2019) year wouldn't eat had loose stools so I changed to wellness after alot of reading this one was the best choice he has been on this food for 2 years and firm stools his coat is sooo very soft and no allergies. The higher the crude fiber the firmer the stools. I am very happy Murphy loves this food we will be a customer for a very long time.

Not a Fan Favorite

My large Pyrenees mix did not care for this food. He would only eat it when mixed with a topper. We went back to our old food (which had been out of stock) and are going to combine the two until it is gone.

Wouldn’t eat

My Labradoodle is not a finicky eater at all, so I was surprised that she would not eat this food. I put half of this food and half her previous food in bowl and she would only eat her previous food. Tried this for 2 weeks and absolutely wouldn’t eat it.

Great food

I have a Saint Bernard & Spanish Mastiff, both 3 1/2 years old, & have been on Wellness since they were puppies. I use the dry mixed with can & every drop of food is gone each meal. My Saint Bernards prior to these dogs were also on Wellness.

Good dog food

The food is pretty close to the nutrition I want for my pup. He seems to enjoy the food as well. It’s made with too quirky ingredients. I would Ana’s have recommended this food.I do a 50/50 mix of this and the other wellness large breed food (grain-free). So I can lower the protein and lower the gluten.

So far so good

My eight year old golden retriever has been eating this food for about a month. She seems to like it, and I like that it has glucosamine for her hips. Haven’t noticed any significant changes in her behavior or energy, so too soon to tell if it’s making a difference in how she feels.
