Questions & Answers

How do I know the expiration date of the pet food I am ordering?
Answer by cagallegos53Aug 04, 2022
You don’t unless you make a call and ask,

How long should you feed this puppy food to a giant breed puppy, ex: Mastiff or Newfie? Or would you recommend the adult formula for those breeds?
Answer by ChewyFeb 09, 2020
A puppy is generally considered an adult when they stop growing taller. Typically for small breeds this is between 9-12 months, medium breeds around 12 months and large breeds closer to 15 months. We always recommend consulting with your veterinarian to determine when it is appropriate for your individual pet.

Does this product have garlic in it
Answer by ChewyNov 03, 2018
This recipe does contain garlic powder. Garlic, when used in small amounts, can help support the immune system, liver and cardiovascular system prevents blood clots and reduces cholesterol/fat build up in the blood and heart. Also, it aides in the fight against bacterial, viral and fungal infections and increases the rate of killing off parasites and is great for palatability. For a complete list of ingredients, click the “Nutritional Info” tab, next to the “Description” tab, just under the product photos.

What percentage of the crude protein is actual meat?
Answer by ChewyFeb 10, 2020
This formula has approximately 68% of protein from animal sources.

our golden retriever loves this--found on Dog Food Advisor website

My 7 month old Golden Retriever puppy likes this much better than the Taste of the Wild dry puppy food, which has tiny kibbles. She takes her time chewing the Wellness kibbles and we don't have to use a slow-feeder. Highly recommend! Chewy was so wonderful about crediting us for the Taste of the Wild food that didn't work out. We will never buy from anyone else!!!

Puppy didn’t like

Did a lot of research and finally decided to try Wellness. My puppy had been on Hill’s Science Diet, but I thought it may be making him extra thirsty so wanted to switch. Didn’t even make it through the full transition though - he just stopped really eating the more I put in, and I had to feed him little by little. It also seemed a bit too big of pieces for a puppy, even though it is large breed. So I went back to Hill’s Science Diet large breed and he started eating all on his own again. Plus, two vets had actually recommended Hill’s Science Diet. They said Wellness was fine, but Hill’s Science Diet is good. Didn’t have any issues with diarrhea with Wellness, but my puppy just wasn’t loving it.

If I could give this 0 stars I would.

I researched best puppy foods for our 9 week old Golden pup and ordered this. We started to transition to this food using the recommended schedule of 25% new food and 75% old food for three days. This food made our baby so horribly gassy with liquid diarrhea so bad that it set him back in his potty and crate training. Changed him back to 100% old food today and he is so much better.

This worked for us!

My cats have been on Wellness brand for several years and have done great on it and even lost a little weight like they needed too. When we adopted our puppy she was eating Pro Plan so we continued with that until Pro Plan recently did something to their formula. She would not touch it as it made her super sick. I decided to switch to this brand since my felines do so well on it and it worked miracles!! She loves the food and all of her digestive issues cleared up within a day. I also used to give my pup probiotics with her old food but this food has it in it already so it saves me money because I no longer have to buy it and the food. Definitely give this great food a try. It has worked wonders with my fur family!

Hoping for the best

We used to feed our last dog this brand as treats, since I made all her food. she always did well on it. We are switching to this brand to see how our new girls handle it hopefully just as well as our last one did.

Disliked

My pup doesn’t have interest in this food. I purchased after seeing an online review that someone said their pups seemed to like the flavor over others, but it has had the opposite effect.

Great for our English Bulldog and Corso puppies

We have fed our Maltese, English Bulldog and poodle wellness dog foods for over 10+ years no issues. Now our Cane Corso puppy is eating it with no issues and loves it. Depends on your dog’s allergies different ingredients may be required so reading is fundamental and of course knowing your dog. You definitely get what you pay for with this dog food.

New food to start the transition from Puppyhood

As my babies approach 18 mo., I began the research into a food that was healthful and was available as a lifecycle food. This food not only contained fewer questionable ingredients than their current puppy food (Blue Buffalo) but is less costly.
