It is important to slowly transition your dog from his/her current diet as it takes a few days for the body to adapt to the new nutrient levels. To transition, gradually mix in the new food over a 5 - 7 day period, increasing the amount of Wellness® each day, so that you are feeding 100% Wellness® by day 7.

amazing for chihuahuas especially order ones
By xoannedexo on Feb 6, 2021
I have 3 older chihuahua ranging from 15 years old to 10 years old. Weighing 12,7,4.5 lbs. They were on another brand but they are basically when they were starving (note: I just keep their bowl filled so they eat when they want) they didn’t wanna touch it. So I went looking for something with good reviews made for older dogs that was made for their smaller size. The oldest has had some teeth issues. While this is a crunchy food it’s tiny. So it break ups easy for her. First day they tried it they cleaned the bowl out. Haven’t had any issues since. Definitely worth spending the extra money. Plus they dog treats by this brand also a huge hit. Those are also smaller so you don’t feel bad when I have 3 older chihuahua ranging from 15 years old to 10 years old. Weighing 12,7,4.5 lbs. Wellness Small Breed Complete Health Senior Deboned Turkey & Peas
By ragnar on Feb 23, 2021 Top 25 Contributor
I don't know how it happened so quickly, but both of my dogs are seniors now. My vet recommended I switch to senior formulas and Wellness is excellent for both of them. They are doing very well with this food: bright and active! Thanks Chewy!

Tram finally eats!
By Trammell on Dec 26, 2020
I have a 15 yr old walker mix who is THE PICKIEST DOG ON THE PLANET!!!! Although he is around 50 lbs he has gum problems now the small breed formula seems to work becasuenof the small peices. I’ve tried so many foods he won’t eat. Spent tons of money and given so much away!!! He will eat this!!! I’ve been mixing his favorite wet food with a cup of this morning and night and he eats every peice! I am so happy!!!!! He’s been losing weight and I was getting very worried! BUT he’s finally eating this

He eats it
By Sallyfeb on Jan 25, 2021
I have tried so many dry dog foods and given them away because my Shih Tzu just won't eat them. He gets a handful of this to go next to his wet food and eats it. Picky eater doesn't begin it describe him and add senior into the mix, ugh. I can honestly recommend this one.

Great for my Seniors
By Alvin on Feb 16, 2021 Top 1000 Contributor
I’m very happy with the ingredients and it was a huge plus when I saw the sodium amount was low enough for my seniors to have in their beginning stage of CHF.

Wellness is lovely
By TeriC on Dec 28, 2020
This is the perfect size for my very small Sheltie we who came to us-with horrible teeth. She still gets to chew but the food breaks for her and she loves the taste, As does my very large Sheltie who raids it if he can. Will order it again for Abi for sure!

Senior dog approves of it

My 17 year old Boston can’t handle my other dogs food, I like the wellness brand, switched it to her and her digestive issues went away.

Love the food, too small a bag and too expensive for 3 dogs
By Elizabeth on Oct 24, 2020
I’ve been using small breed wellness for over 10 years. I love that it’s such a great food! My dogs love it. But now that I need senior for all 3 of my littles, there’s no way I can stick with it! It’s far too small a bag and it’s outrageously expensive for 4 lbs. I’ll be looking to move to another brand sadly.

Bag is so small ends up being too expensive
By Cooper on Aug 25, 2020
My 11 year old minpins (2) have always eaten Wellness dry kibble and we are all happy with that! It really has served us well. Now that they are aging (and there is some trouble with their teeth) I wanted to switch them to senior food/ small kibble. And this is Wellness' only choice. They only sell it 4lb bags for $16 +> $4/lb. compared to the wellness food from before $1.9/lb for 30 lb bag. The price is crazy! We will be switching off from Wellness.

Great dog food
By Dancer on Oct 18, 2020
My last doxie started having intestinal problems as she aged and this was the only dog food she could tolerate. I've been feeding this to my newly adopted senior doxie. She is doing great on it!
