It’s a Tea Potty! Hinoki and Green Tea Cat Litter by Weruva

Clay-Free

This natural wood litter lets you say “no way!” to clay, for a more sustainable way to fill the litter box.

Clumping

The pellet formula turns into easily scooped clumps that make keeping the litter box clean less of a chore.

Low Dust

Unlike some other litters that send up a cloud of dust every time someone uses or scoops the box, this one is delightfully clean.

Questions & Answers

11 Customer Questions

I hate litter with odor added, what does it smell like?

Answer by ChewyDec 19, 2018
Weruva's cat litter is made from Hinoki wood and Green Tea. As Hinoki wood is from the cedar family, the litter has a light wood and tea scent. Hinoki wood is excellent at absorbing moisture and should keep the air nice and fresh.

What scoop is best with weruva cat litter?

Answer by ChewyApr 30, 2018
Any cat litter scooper is suitable to be used with this litter.

Does this litter contain methylisothiazolinone or methylchloroisothiazolinone?

Answer by ChewyOct 15, 2020
The ingredients are Hinoki, green tea and potato starch. The Hinoki wood naturally suppresses the growth of mold and bacteria which in turn helps control odors, as does the green tea. The litter is in pellet form and is low dust and clumpable.

What is the clumping agent(s)? Is there an ingredient list available please? Thank you!

Answer by ChewyFeb 28, 2018
The ingredients are Hinoki Wood and Green Tea.

I like this brand as it doesn’t produce dust when she uses her litter box. Other cheaper brands would produce dust over her entire face when she was finished. When it starts to break down to dust on the bottom of the box, I know it’s time to change out the litter. It keeps odors down, and that’s very important in a senior apartment building where the residents can be a bit fussy!

Excellent pellet litter

All I really want in a cat litter is something that conceals smells and is pretty contained to the litter box. Overall I am pretty happy with this litter. Pros: Conceals

All I really want in a cat litter is something that conceals smells and is pretty contained to the litter box. Overall I am pretty happy with this litter. Pros: Conceals smells VERY well- this litter literally smells like nothing which I love. Cons: Litter does clump, but clumps fall apart easily Litter crushes pretty easily and cats do still track it around like clay litter, but not nearly as bad as clay litter.

I’ve been using this litter for years and while it comes with a little bit of a learning curve, I think it’s the best. There’s barely any bio smell, it’s clumps well (if your cat doesn't pee in just one spot like mine does), and was great for multiple cats when I had two. It’s expensive but worth it.

Best scent and masks orders really well.

It’s lightweight and tracks less than other litters. Wish I had found this sooner!

Ok Clumping

Not heavily scented but clumping is only ok. Have to handle carefully or may break apart. My cats are ok with it. One cat has decreased his use of the litter box

Nope!

I decided to try this because I wanted to switch from clay litter & it's dust. To introduce it to my cats, I sprinkled a little bit on top of their clay litter. My two younger cats were fine with it, but I have an older cat who's very resistant to changes. She also dislikes litter that's hard on her feet & typically won't use crystal or extruded litter (wood, cor, paper, etc.). From the pictures, I thought it looked like smaller pieces than many of the extruded litters, but the pieces are still too big. My older cat just wouldn't use it. If you have cats that aren't real fussy, this might be an option for you. It has a pleasant 'woody' smell. It does a good job of absorbing urine, though you should probably leave it sit for a while before scooping. It doesn't absorb as quickly as clay & crystal litters & needs a little time to be completely absorb into the pellets. It doesn't track too terribly, though you will find a few pieces here & there on the floor. It doesn't vacuum up easily using a dustbuster, though there's no problem if using a full sized vacuum. This is okay. I might have continued using it had my older cat used it. She just wouldn't. It's also a little expensive in my opinion.
