Learn More About Weruva From Our Team of Experts

Weruva Wx Phos Focused

The Weruva Wx formula has low levels of phosphorous without sacrificing protein content or quality. It offers highly bioavailable proteins for optimal digestion and good amino acid absorption to help maintain muscle mass.

Why Seek Lower Phosphorous Formulas?

As kidney health declines, the kidneys filter blood less efficiently, and phosphorous may enter the blood stream, creating new health issues. A diet with lower phosphorous, although it will not cure kidney issues, can help minimize these other ailments.

Weruva’s Lowest Phosphorous Foods

This low-phosphorous food is all natural and free of ingredients like powdered cellulose, fillers and carbohydrates that can superficially lower phosphorous percentages. Weruva Wx contains up to 50% less phosphorus than AAFCO’s minimum levels.

No Protein Sacrifice

Cats are obligate carnivores who need meat to thrive. Because maintaining muscle mass is crucial for cats with kidney issues, Weruva makes sure their Wx formula includes plenty of high-quality protein.

About Weruva

Weruva is a family company, wholly owned and operated by pet parents David and Stacie Forman since 2006. They originally developed Weruva, a luxurious natural pet food, for their three rescued cats: Webster, Rudi, and Vanessa.

My 15 year old cat with CKD has responded so well to this food! I mix the puree with his prescription food and it’s the only way he will eat it. He cleans his plate every time! After starting this new diet I saw an immediate improvement. He has gained some weight, his coat is softer, and isn’t nauseous anymore. I’m so glad we found this!

My old man cat had been doing the pate variety pack but I noticed he had a strong preference for the chicken, so I switched to this pack instead. He is progressing into kidney disease, so he seems to need more and more liquid in his food. He still likes the pate chicken but he adores the shreds ... only if I blend it up, though. He has a hard time with the actual shred consistency, which I have to say is very odd and stringy. So, I had to knock a point off for that. Now I have to buy a new blender for my own use after sacrificing my current one to cat food. Haha. Worth it for my Roy, though.

Found a food for Chronic Kidney Disease that my cat will actually eat.

Cassie is 16 and was diagnosed with CKD two years ago. Our vet prescribed two different canned foods for her but she just wouldn't eat them. Luckily I found this

Cassie is 16 and was diagnosed with CKD two years ago. Our vet prescribed two different canned foods for her but she just wouldn't eat them. Luckily I found this in our local pet store and she ate it! I tried a few other brands but still no go. A year and a half later she is still eating this as her primary food with some occasional prescription dried food, her numbers have gotten better and are holding steady.

Low phosphorus chicken cat food

Denace does not like it & he's getting a 50/50 mix of Weruva & Friskies or Fancy Feast. I really thought he would like the chicken. It's the only low phosphorus

Denace does not like it & he's getting a 50/50 mix of Weruva & Friskies or Fancy Feast. I really thought he would like the chicken. It's the only low phosphorus food available without a prescription. I'll have to get a Rx from our vet Mon to try something else.

My CKD cat loves this

I've had 9 cats in my life, so Ive dealt with kidney failure multiple times. The kiss of death is when they stop eating, and all of mine have HATED prescription

I've had 9 cats in my life, so Ive dealt with kidney failure multiple times. The kiss of death is when they stop eating, and all of mine have HATED prescription kidney diets. They are generally horrible ingredients too. So, this time around I focused on low phosphorus foods, to make sure my guy keeps eating. He LOVES this food and has eaten it for over 6 months, which was originally all the vet gave him for survival time based on his blood work. He is now at 7 months. This, couple with phos bind (also from chewy) and lactated ringers spiked with B complex and potassium (i buy the fluids at chewy and have the vet spike them) has had my boy happy and seemingly healthy for longer than he was given to live, so I'm sold!

After losing our precious Max to renal disease three months ago, finding a yummy low phosphorus food made us happy since lower phosphorus reduces the possibility of renal disease. For that reason, it’s especially great that our Meka likes the taste of it and gobbles it up. We’re all happy!
