Questions & Answers

Would a small size be okay for a dog that is 30lb border collie mix, a little on the small side?or is a large better.

Answer by ChewyMay 12, 2018
The Small measures 5.5 x 2.25 x 2.25 inches while the Large measures 6.5 x 2.75 x 2.75 inches. The Small would be suitable for a light to moderate chewer however the Large is recommended for strong chewers.

Is the opening end hole a different size depending on the size (S/L)?

Answer by ChewyJan 24, 2022
The large has a ½-3/4 inch opening , and 3/8 to ¼ on the small. These are really hard to measure because there are little fins on the inside that hold the treats tight, those are the smaller of the sizes given.

Approximately how much kibble does this hold? .5 cup? More? Less?

Answer by ChewyApr 20, 2019
This toy is designed to hold a variety of different treats. The size of the kibble or treats will depend on how many pieces can fit inside, but generally it'll fit no more than a handful.

Can this toy go in the freezer?

Answer by ChewyJan 21, 2021
Yes, all Zogoflex toys can go in the freezer. The Qwizl was originally designed for stick like treats, such as bully sticks or dental sticks. The Tux treat toy works well for freezing creamy or pureed treats as another option.

This is the third Qwizl we have owned. West Paw makes real toys for power chewers and Ripple is that! We freeze dog food inside the cavity as a puzzle. We bought red because of sports allegiances. It seems to be a little weaker than the green and orange. It is still better than Kong (don't get me started) or Nylabone, but the red just seems to lack the same durability of the other colors of Qwizl.

This is my third review of items I bought from West Paw, first I am from Bozeman and like to cheer for this company, but they do not know what a small dog is, I bought this for my 17 and 30 lb dog and maybe it is ok for the 30 lb dog, but probably too big for the 17 lb dog. Hey West Paw, you have great products but not everyone has heelers and labs! Learn what a small dog is!

He has other “tricky toys” as he knows them to be. And immediately went to work. This one was a bit tricky for ME however trying to find treats that were small enough to go in but not fall through the larger side grooves. I’m not a first timer to these however and put the little stuff in first then semi plug the side grooves with softer larger pieces of stuff like nudges or pupperonis broken down to size. He digs it.

Dog doesn't really like it -- maybe because it's indestructible or maybe too large. I have a partial chew stick stuck inside it now too. I thought it would be safer to have the chew stick secured by toy to slow her down. It has a guarantee but haven't investigated yet.

I am a PhD student with a SUPER high-energy dog (lab, border collie, poodle mix who regularly runs with me). I take her out for lots of exercise in the morning, but anytime I work late, she has a hard time staying entertained enough with any puzzle toy or chew for me to get my work done. Kongs are great, but I just never remember to freeze them early enough and if they aren't frozen, they only take her a couple minutes to clear. But this actually keeps her entertained! And it takes me only a couple seconds to pop some treats in, or a bully stick, or a denastix, or whatever! It's such a win-win. This is about to be my Christmas present to every dog owner in my life.

Live Saver When Working from Home

My dog is skinny and only 20 lb, but she can CHEW UP ANYTHING. But not this! And she sure has tried! This toy is soft and chewy for her teeth, but isn't tearing

My dog is skinny and only 20 lb, but she can CHEW UP ANYTHING. But not this! And she sure has tried! This toy is soft and chewy for her teeth, but isn't tearing or cracking yet. I love breaking treat sticks in half and lodging them in there. It keeps her occupied while I'm on a call when working from home. The toy is also easy to wash. She sometimes chews it when nothing is in it, but not too often. I do still highly recommend this as a great way to dispense treats.

Stands up against years of power-chewing

I have a 13 year old golden who is an extreme power chewer. She has managed to tear apart almost every other toy I’ve bought her, including Kings and other toys meant for tough chewers. I bought this toy YEARS ago, and it still looks almost new. She’s especially been using it almost daily for about the past month (including it being stuffed with chew treats) and there’s hardly a dent in it despite some hardcore chewing on her end!

My mini-Aussie is an aggressive chewer who craves challenges. I cram two large pieces of jerky for dogs in it every night. No piece can stick out, or she'll just pull it out and if it's too easy she's disappointed. She'll spend a good hour on it in total concentration. Makes her so happy. I've also thinly spread peanut butter in it for a quicker treat. I need to buy a new one every year, which I'm doing now, but 100% worth it.
