I don't see taurine in the ingredient list. How much taurine is in this cat food to make it safe for cats?
Answer by ChewyFeb 05, 2019
While Taurine is not added to this formula and thus does not appear in the ingredients, Taurine is naturally occurring within meat with the amount varying on the type of meat. This product has a Taurine content of 0.2% on a dry-matter basis.

What exactly is the "natural flavors" added to this food? MSG? or what????
Answer by ChewyNov 25, 2019
The natural flavor in the Epigen canned diets is a yeast derived, neutral protein flavor.

What is the percentage of phosphorus on a dry matter basis?
Answer by ChewyMar 13, 2019
This formula contains 1.4% phosphorus on a dry matter basis.

How many calories does canned wysong duck wet food have in it? I can't seem to get that information from either the label or from the Wysong website, and I need the information in my quest to help increase weight on a very thin IBD kitty. Thanks!
Answer by ChewyJun 12, 2018
The Epigen™ Duck contains approximately 486 kcals/can.

Wysong Duck Is Loved

Simple ingredients make this food a hit with my kitty and dog. They both love it plain or mixed with their normal "balanced" food.

So healthy but so unappetizing!

I really want my cats to eat this! We have duck, turkey, and chicken types. I'm trying various strategies like mixing it half and half with a more creamy, salty food, but they are still very reluctant to eat it. I just love the nutritional stats! Good protein, low phosphorus, low sodium, fat isn't too low. It's something I could feed everyone from the kitten to the older cat whose kidneys are starting to decline. But they just don't like it. It's rather dense and dry, so it helps if you stir it a lot to make it seem a bit softer. I will update my review if I find the secret to getting them to like this line! But for now, I still suggest trying some because if you do luck out and your pets accept it, it's SO GOOD for them! Definitely worth gambling a little money on trying a pack.

Great Food!

Wysong products are the best. When you first open one of their cans, you'll instantly be able to tell the quality. The food really smells good.

6 out of 6 Dogs Love It

This dog food is the consistency of pate, and the can is full (no broth, etc). It smells like cat food, and what dog has ever turned up their nose at that? All 6 of my dogs love this dog food. I don't see any duck fat in the can, although it might be in the mix. Duck fat is very beneficial to dogs (in moderation). It contains linoleic acid, which is an Omega-6 fatty acid, required for reproduction, growth, immune function, and skin and coat health. I mix this in with the regular food, and the dogs lick the bowls clean.

Dogs love this!

I use this as a topper for the dry food I feed my dogs. One dog is allergic to EVERYTHING, so I need to be very careful about the contents of all his food. This has no filler or additives.

My dog loves this food

The food texture is perfect. I bought this for my 10 year old pit bull/black lab mix. My 2 year old blue tick coon/tree walker hound/Rat terrier mix loves the rabbit too. No fillers

Picky Eater

I read that this is very good quality but my Pitty doesn't like it.I think its the texture, he likes crunchy food.

My cats were not fans...

I have 9 cats (ages range from 4-15 years) and supplement them with wet food, while they always have access to dry food. A single can would sit all day in the kitchen. They would eat a little, but nothing like they normally vacuum food down. Normally, each cat can polish off a 5oz can of food with no problem, but a single 12.9oz can of Epigen split 9 ways (less than 1.5oz per cat) sat ALL day, and I still wasted a good portion of it. Maybe results are better with dogs, but I will not be buying this for cats again, donated 10 of the 12 cans to the shelter.

Best I've found

My dog has allergies. I switch her between this canned food and their Rabbit. No issues. Food has few ingredients and she eats it quickly. She eats 1/2 can daily along with her kibble by instinct.

Canned Food

Dogs seem to enjoy the canned food, especially duck.
