Is it true that Wysong Epigen canned foods are not nutritionally complete for cats, that they are meant as a treat or supplement to other foods?
Answer by ChewyFeb 27, 2018
Wysong Epigen canned foods can be used as a top dressing for Wysong Dry Diets, or as a supplemental stand - alone meal.

Why isn't this food acceptable for every day feedings for cats?
Answer by ChewyOct 21, 2019
The Epigen canned diets are designed to be used with Wysong's supplement Call of the Wild, which was designed to balance a fresh meat diet or their Epigen canned diets by providing organ meat, fats, connective tissue, proteoglycans, minerals, vitamins, enzymes, probiotics and innumerable other micronutrients in the levels and proportions found in natural prey.

So healthy but so unappetizing!

I really want my cats to eat this! We have duck, turkey, and chicken types. I'm trying various strategies like mixing it half and half with a more creamy, salty food, but they are still very reluctant to eat it. I just love the nutritional stats! Good protein, low phosphorus, low sodium, fat isn't too low. It's something I could feed everyone from the kitten to the older cat whose kidneys are starting to decline. But they just don't like it. It's rather dense and dry, so it helps if you stir it a lot to make it seem a bit softer. I will update my review if I find the secret to getting them to like this line! But for now, I still suggest trying some because if you do luck out and your pets accept it, it's SO GOOD for them! Definitely worth gambling a little money on trying a pack.

awful food

Resembles cheap dog food. The 2 Bengal brothers wouldn’t touch this product and went on a hunger strike for the entire day! Perhaps I can donate the case to a local shelter, only I’m not sure if anyone would eat it.

Use Evanger's Turkey or Against The Grain Turkey

Wysong has changed their formula, and it is not good. It does not look, smell, nor will our ferrets eat it any longer. Switched to Evanger's Turkey and Against The Grain Turkey, no problems!

Finnicky cats

Unfortunately none of my 12 cats wanted to eat it.

Not so much

I thought this would be so good, since I read ingredients, but my dogs didn’t like it that much, so it was a waste. If you guys allow to order one or two cans to try first instead of 12, it would be helpful.

My Picky Eater Loves This Food

Both my English Mastiffs love this canned food. I have a picky eater who will go hungry before she eats certain food. She is a tough critic. She devours this and gets excited when I prepare her dinner. It is less expensive than the other canned food I was buying. It is also healthier and they like it better. Win-win!

well liked

Firm texture with no gravy. Well liked by both my dog and cats. I recommend introducing slowly, one cat will sometimes get diarrhea with this if he eats too much. I feed intermittently rotating with other foods as top dressing,

My Ferrets love it

My 3 ferrets love it. It took time for them to get used to it. I would just hold them on my arms and give them some on my finger I would do that few times a day while they eating other food, untill they get used to the new food.

“The thinking person’s pet food?“

I have 6 cats. Wet food gets expensive so I am always looking for good food at an affordable price. I was a little skeptical because it supposedly is for dogs and cats. However, I do like the larger cans. Before I try another brand I do some research. I found out Wysong has their wet food canned/manufactured at Evanger’s. If you don’t know the history on Evanger’s, do a google search. I’m not just talking about the 2017 recall, either. There is a long negative history on Evanger’s and their ethics. Wysong also offers a vegan dry food for cats. Sounds like marketing to an ideology at the expense of the cat. Wysong is billed the “thinking person’s pet food”. I’m not sure how much thinking is happening here? I am waiting to see if Wysong will come out with a bag of tomatoes infused with supplements for pet snakes to constrict, Lol. I would recommend doing some research before ordering.
