I’d check out a ceramic heat emitter.

How long is the cord attached to it, and does it have a usb plug or a outlet compatible plug?

For the dual light, does the dual lamp come with two switches to control both lights separately?

Can you take out the heating unit? I just need the UVB portion of the dome.

Low profile, but low heat unfortunately

I was really hopeful about these. I did a ton of research before purchasing these. I needed something low profile for low pvc cages, 12in tall, for hognose snakes

I was really hopeful about these. I did a ton of research before purchasing these. I needed something low profile for low pvc cages, 12in tall, for hognose snakes. I wanted something that mimics natural sunlight, no uth or radiant heat panels, that could provide a basking spot of 85-95 in a room with ambient 70degrees. I could barely get these to hit 80 with the maximum 50 watt mini halogen bulbs. The fixtures get extremely hot. If that heat was projected downwards this would be great, but it’s poorly designed/highly inefficient. Most of the heat seems to be absorbed into the fixture making it extremely hot, while very little goes downward toward your animal. Unless you have some sort of animal that is going to get within 6in of the light, this thing is basically useless for reptiles. I’ve tried the other mini domes and they seem to project heat downwards better than these, which was one of my concerns but I couldn’t find any information about that being an issue prior to purchasing these. Either way, these mini halogen bulbs and fixtures don’t do much for heating. they might be suitable for a crestie in a really cold room to bump the basking temps 5- 10 degrees in under 12in distance. Otherwise, huge disappointment and now I’m stuck with these or trying to go through the hassle of returning them.. find a box, find a printer, drive an hour to the nearest drop off location in a blizzard. I wish there were more practical reviews with actual information about these products so you could actually get a predictor of what the heat output will be. Zilla has a chart but it’s not accurate or I wouldn’t have even tried these.

Sturdy & stays in place

I love this little dome. I have cats and was worried about them knocking over a lamp if I weren’t home, these made a huge difference.

Every single one of these kinds of light fixtures is massive. Little 1", low wattage halogen and it needs a 7-inch long fixture? Everything "smaller," that they make, including the so-called Nano Domes, (afaik, because NO ONE ever puts full measurement specs on the packaging) needs at least 5-5.5" clearance above it, 8" if you want to hang it. But they're "perfect for nano terrariums." Sure. I'm giving this 4 stars simply because it's at least decent quality. I've used worse; I kept reptiles in the early 2000s. Plus, this is only vaguely meant for the purpose I need the light for... I don't keep any reptiles these days. Though, honestly, I'm so annoyed by the overall problem of everything being way too large, the wrong specs, and companies pasting a picture of an invertebrate on a reptile product and calling it, "perfect," without ANY consideration for the differences in care/behavior/enclosure size, that I kind of want to give this ONE star. Simply out of spite. I'll be nice though. Anyway. This fixture will work temporarily but the janky rig I had to build is ridiculous. It hangs off of hardware wire, which is attached to a kebab skewer support frame, which is held onto the underside of a shelf with more wire. Not a long-term solution, and the "dome" is so big that it fails to focus the heat in one direction. Stalemate. (The "test tank" is planted but doesn't contain live animals yet. I need a 90-95F basking spot, not a broiler. lol So, no critters until it's sorted.)

Small size for tight space

My frog terrarium sit on the lower level of the stand for my aquarium. This lamp fixture was perfect for my terrarium and the lighting is great!
