The Ziwi Difference
Ziwi carefully crafts their food to mirror the whole-prey, meat-rich diet dogs and cats require for a long, happy, healthy life. Their small, dedicated team proudly handcrafts Ziwi in small batches each day. With a passion for pets around the world, they are driven to put the very best of their New Zealand home into every recipe.

Free-Range, Grass-Fed
All ingredients are sourced from the green, free-range farms and blue, pristine oceans of New Zealand. Meats are sourced from humane, ethical and sustainably managed local farms. And fish is caught in the southern oceans of New Zealand, strictly managed to ensure maximum sustainability.
Air-Dried Recipes
Ziwi naturally preserves their dry dog and cat food by air-drying it, eliminating the need for artificial preservatives, salts, sugars or glycerines. Their slow, gentle, twin stage air-drying process results in a food that's as nutrient-dense and digestible as a completely raw diet, but safe and clean to handle, and can store for up to 21 months. A little goes a long way, the recipes are so packed with the good stuff your pet needs to thrive, that you can actually feed him less than what you might be used to.

Moist Meal Options
Ziwi has moist dog and cat food recipe options too, Ziwi implements a small batch canning process to deliver high meat and moisture-rich recipes at higher can weights using the same free-range proteins that can be stored for up to three years.
Only the Good Stuff
Made with your pet's health in mind, Ziwi is made with absolutely no grains, corn, wheat, soy, rice, rendered meats, animal meals, meat by-products, cheap filler ingredients, starches like white potatoes and sweet potatoes, ethoxyquin, pea protein, salt, sugar, glycerine, artificial flavors or colors, antibiotics, growth hormones, or ingredients from China. Just pure New Zealand goodness that helps your pet thrive.

Happy Joints, Happy Pets
All Ziwi recipes include 3% New Zealand Green-Lipped Mussels, a natural source of glucosamine and chondroitin which support long-term joint health. The Green-Lipped Mussel may only be found in New Zealand, where it is farmed using ecologically-sustainable practices.
About Ziwi
Ziwi is proudly 100% family owned, with kitchens located in beautiful New Zealand in the small coastal town of Mount Maunganui on the North Island and the rolling hills of Christchurch on the South Island. Ziwi's mission is to deliver pet food and treats that are carefully crafted to mirror the whole-prey, meat-rich diet that dogs and cats need for a long, happy, healthy life.

Winner winner chicken dinner!
By Rombek110 on Jan 23, 2021
So, I never dreamed I'd ever feed a cat canned food. But I decided to give it a shot since my newest baby is picky with dry food (and treats). We tried the lamb first, it made his poops pretty stinky. However, my partner picked up the chicken flavor on accident and he likes this one even more! His poops don't make me gag anymore and we've discovered his "weakness".... Chicken. We mix this with (and rotate it with) his dry food so that he's got at least some roughage in his diet. Also, I get this because I enjoy spoiling my little bean toed baby.

Not even the homeless cats want it.
By Blackcatlady on Jan 28, 2021
I'm one of "those" people, those people who are willing to spend whatever to get my cat exactly what it needs. When my cat became diabetic, I bought this food in the hopes that it would eat it, since it was rejecting the typical diabetic foods. I've tried on three different occasions, my cat will not even go near it, and even the homeless cats I feed on my porch can barely choke it down. Save yourself the money and buy Merrick Backcountry instead.

2 out of 3 of our cats will eat this
By MMason on Jan 18, 2021
The fussy female wouldn’t eat this. I give it in place of the raw diet when the shipment is delayed. It is very thick with very little water almost like a thick patty of chicken. It looks and smells good but she tends to lick her food and wasn’t able to eat it. I got the idea to mix it with a little bit of water and miss fussy did eat a little of it. She was pretty hungry by then.

Three cats say No
By BeanstheCat on Feb 5, 2021
None of my cats will go near this food. Not even one bite. Too bad because the ingredients are good and the company is good, but if it’s going in the garbage doesn’t really matter.

Kitty Loves It!
By SCBB on Nov 29, 2020
My toothless 13 y/o loves Ziwi pates and especially the chicken. He likes the consistency smoother so I just dump the can with a little water and some sweet potato (he needs lots of fiber) into a container and purée it with an immersion blender. Comes out like mousse and he loves it! I freeze what he won’t eat in a couple of days... works great for us. He has a fish allergy, but seems to tolerate the mussels ok which is great for his arthritis.

Cat's prefer beef and lamb to chicken version
By catmagnet on Jan 13, 2021
My cats really like the beef and lamb verisons, but won't eat the chicken version of this food. The ingredients sounded good, except for the chickpeas. I will continue to buy the beef and lamb versions.

Healthy and cat loves it
By Wagn on Feb 22, 2021
My toothless cat has to be on wet food only and her fur was easily matted and flakey. I see a positive difference when on this food.

Pate consistency fell flat for my cats
By Melanie on Nov 22, 2020
One of my cats has diabetes and I did some research and this brand was in the top, unfortunately my cats wouldn’t eat it. It’s not a moist pate so I tried adding water and still not one bite, even my feral cats wouldn’t touch it. I’m disappointed as I see many cats love it, just not mine. Sadly this expensive food will be donated.

Ziwi needs to go back to the kitchen and remake their Chicken
By 3AngryKitties on Jan 17, 2021
What a bummer! This food was not cheap. My cats (3 of them) would not eat this particular kind unless I mixed it with something else...and barely, at that.
