As an innovator and global leader of air-dried nutrition, ZIWI is proudly crafted at their 100% owned kitchens located in beautiful New Zealand in the small coastal town of Mount Maunganui on the North Island and the rolling hills of Christchurch on the South Island. Ziwi's mission is to deliver pet food and treats that are carefully crafted to mirror the whole-prey, meat-rich diet that dogs and cats need for a long, happy, healthy life.
In the past I ordered the Mackerel recipe and my cat really loved it. When it was time to reorder it wasn't available so I decided to try the Mackerel and Lamb - I thought "next best thing", but Nicky turned his nose up at it, sorry to say. He is 18 months old and I didn't think he was a picky eater, but maybe he is and that food was expensive.
The purest, shortest list of ingredients. My cats love it.
My 4 cats who have been snubbing their can food for the past year (I think I have tried every brand) immediately went to town on Ziwi's lamb and mackerel. I originally got it for my finicky elderly cat who is borderline diabetic and arthritic. It has green lipped mussels which are suppose to reduce inflammation and help with arthritic symptoms. She loves it. Its a bit on dry side but I add a bit of water. Only complaint is that the lids are hard to remove. Trying the mackerel next. I love that the ingredients are so clean.
Monkey See and Monkey Do have been on ZiWi Peak's canned wet food almost since the beginning when as kittens they found refuse with us back in the fall of 2015. Their top choice is Venison, but for variety they also get Mackerel & Lamb which they also love. Interesting that they prefer this combination over the single Lamb version, but there it is! If you take note of the ingredients for all of Ziwi Peak's selections, you will see that it is pure food, no fillers or byproducts. On our last well visit, the vet was "blown away" by how soft and silky their coats are. She wanted to know what they were being fed. (Spoiler alert: For more variety they get daily homemade chicken with liver and vegetables as well as fresh cod every now and again.)
I love how high quality the food is, it doesnt have crappy fillers like many brands. My cat loves it. He eats every last bit! I will be repurchasing.
I wouldn't say my cats love this but they like it. None of this brand's wet foods are wet enough for my kids so I mix in a little warm water. Most days they do finish or almost finish this so I'm pretty happy with it.
I was trying to transition my cat to better food for his diet since dry kibble isn't good for an obligate carnivore. I got both the wet food and the air dried food to mix together and Newt absolutely loves it. He instantly was interested in it ( unlike some freeze dried food from Stella and Chewys i had also tried ) and goes crazy for it. Its an investment but its worth it knowing he's getting good ingredients that will keep him healthy!
This is not cheap food, by any measure, but you can see and smell the quality, so we don’t mind the cost. That said, two cats adore this and can’t get enough and the other two won’t have anything to do with it. Que sera sera.
I seem to remember a time when this food was well accepted but when I went to reintroduce this now due to the scarcity of LF's pate foods, most of the cats refused to eat it. Disappointing as it is quite pricey, but maybe their old foods from LF will return soon. .
My cat can't get enough of this food! She seriously licks her plate clean every time. I do add a bit of water to it to make it wetter.
