About ZYMOX Enzymes for Healthy Ears and Skin

Antimicrobial and Antifungal Care

ZYMOX empowers pet parents with patented formulations of natural enzymes to help treat chronic infections in dogs, cats and horses. Their products are formulated to be safe to use on any age pet. ZYMOX packs a potent antimicrobial punch that targets the source of infections—bacteria and fungus(including yeast) to provide therapeutic relief, care, protection and prevention, without any antibiotics or harsh chemicals. Proudly made in the USA and endorsed by TICA (The International Cat Association).

Committed to Healthy Ears, Skin and Coat, and Smiles

To ensure overall health from snout to tail on all four-legged pals, Zymox has developed products that are specially formulated for all the areas that commonly need infection relief, like the ears, teeth and gums, and skin and coat.

Ear Care Solutions

Effective, non-toxic solutions with special enzymes and mild cleansers to keep ears clean and fresh, and combat microbes that can cause ear infections.

Oral Care Solutions

Brushless solutions with unique enzymes to dissolve plaque and prevent its buildup, boost natural "good bacteria," and protect against gum disease to keep kitty and doggy smiles healthy.

Skin and Coat Health

Topical sprays and shampoos for dogs, cats and horses that form a powerful protective barrier against minor skin inflammations from bacteria and fungi, while cleaning and conditioning the coat—with some formulas utilizing hydrocortisone.

100% Safe, Gentle and Easy

Because Zymox formulas are made with 100% naturally derived enzymes from dairy, they are safe for anytime use, both for immediate soothing relief and to prevent infections. The powerful enzymes work to eliminate problem single-celled organisms such as bacteria, fungi and yeast, while leaving healthy cells untouched. This means no irritations for your pal!

Enzyme-Based and Antibiotic-Free

Zymox products use a patented, gentle formulation that combines three potent, naturally occurring enzymes—lactoperoxidase, lysozyme and lactoferrin—that are sourced from milk products. These enzymes are proven to work together to eliminate the source of infection on your pet, without any toxins or antibiotics that can irritate or cause antibiotic resistance.

About ZYMOX

Zymox was founded in 1998 by Pamela Bosco, who sought to change the way that people treated and managed ear, oral and skin infections with a safer alternative to antibiotics. Enlisting the help of her brother—a scientist that developed the enzyme technology in Biotene—Bosco formulated a powerful enzyme-based solution to help treat infections in dogs, cats and horses with no toxins, chemicals or antibiotics. Committed to keeping all four-legged pals healthy, they offer USA-made and sourced products to treat, soothe and protect against bacterial and fungal infections gently and 100% naturally.

Works Great!

My boxer mix was scratching at his neck so much it was getting red and sometimes bled. I thought it may be his collar but after 3 different collars, he was still scratching. I found this product online and gave it a try. The difference was apparent in only a few days. He stopped scratching and the redness went away. I would definitely recommend this product !

GREAT PRODUCT!

My 3yr old Lab had a horrible wound on his ear from where his smaller, but older brother bit and pulled his ear through our baby gate. It was a very deep cut, I was afraid it would get infected. So I did some research on Chewy and decided on this cream. Before I put the cream on the cut was very swollen, and purple. It was located on a difficult spot so I couldn't bandage it. It wouldn't fully scab over either. I cleaned it with wound wash and then started the cream, 2 times a day. Within a week the skin was closed up, no longer swollen or purple. The cut left a bump, but it looks so much better and I can tell it isn't bothering him anymore. I am so happy that I bought this. If your fur children have any skin issues or cuts I would definitely recommend this! So thankful for Chewy, making it easy to get good products for my babies.

false advertising:

I was just in the vet yesterday with my cousin who’s cat had a wound that wasn’t healing, she put zymox on it and it didn’t help. The vet looked in to zymox and this medication shouldn’t be used on wounds (as zymox has it on their package) because it has a steroid in it. It would be great for something a little as a irritated red inflamed skin but NOT wounds. If your animal has an open wound PLEASE do not use this product. It will not heal! Go to the vet!

Skin problem

I purchased this product for what I felt was a very unuasual skin problem and it cleared it up very nicely. Because it delt with other kinds of germs besides bacterial, I feel that it did what I needed it to do. Skin is healthy and in fine shape.

The 5 stars are for the 1% cream (this is 0.5%)

There is a version of the Zymox topical cream with 1% hydrocortisone available from Chewy. I believe that the product pictured here is for the 0.5% cream. I would buy the 1%, because it provides more itch relief. My Maine Coon has "allergy ears" at various times during the year, and he scratches so hard he causes bleeding (I try to keep his back nails trimmed because of this). This topical cream, applied once a day for 2 or 3 days to the base and tips of ears, eases itching and dries out the wounded areas.

Contains Propylene Glycol!

I bought this specifically because it says it is “safe to lick” - that is absolutely not true, even according to the tube directions! I just bought this, January 12, 2022. Even the tube has a large warning stamped on it stating, “Avoid contact with mucous membranes..For external use only (big letters)..NOT FOR USE ON HUMANS..” So it most definitely is not “safe for licking”. If you have a cat, they will ingest it. I am furious to have to police products that these companies sell for animals - I should be able to trust the label. I trusted this company! TLDR: Propylene Glycol is toxic to cats and dogs, even at small doses.

Does help with her chin acne

My cat has terrible chin acne and pulls out hair from her belly and lower legs. This cream does help. I do have to take her for allergy shots too.
