Happy Dogs
By Mychildrenhave4legs on Jan 24, 2021
I first ordered this product several years ago. At that time I was skeptical about using it because of the fat on the top of the can. I put the cans in a closet and came across them recently. I was out of roast pork and pork chops that I usually prepare for our dogs so I decided to give it a try again. When I open the can I skim off all the visible fat from the top, then put it in a container to smash and mix it up. I then use a portion of it to mix with the dry food that our dogs eat and put the rest in the refrigerator. (When refrigerated I put it in the microwave for about 12 seconds to soften it.) We have a picky eater that is allergic to chicken and beef. We have been using this for I first ordered this product several years ago. We have a picky eater that is allergic to chicken and beef. We have been using this for two weeks and he jumps right in and eats it all every time. This gives a nice complementary coating on the dry food making it easy to eat. Prior to this he would pick out all the pork pieces and I would have to bribe and coax him to eat the dry food. Our other two dogs dive right into it as well. Yes, I will recommend this product. I can't buy any of the canned dog foods because they all have some form of chicken in their ingredients, regardless of what the front label says it is. I am happy to have a break from cooking pork and have a product that the dogs actually like and it has no additional ingredients to cause allergies. … more

Great stuff!!!
By Karahsdad on Feb 11, 2021
I love that it’s so clean with no other ingredients. My girl is allergic to everything under the sun(so it seems) and adding this to her kibble makes her happy and has no negative impact on her. I hope they start making more choices in this. Thank you to Against The Grain.

Good stuff!

I like this food - and the others like it that Evanger's has. Yes, it's a chunk in the can but I just stir it up before serving and use it as a food topper for kibble. The dogs love it - also the beef and salmon varieties. The pork has a little less fat than the beef.

Such a life saver for my itchy dog
By JoBaby on Jul 16, 2020
Our regular dog food was discontinued due to the current pandemic. I desperately searched for a substitute, which was another disaster and picked what I thought was another all-pork dog food. Unfortunately, it had potatoe, poultry and grains. Three terrible ingredients that cause my pup to go into an itchy frenzy. I finally realized the dog food substitute was causing his discomfort, and quickly searched for another all pork substitute. I was a little hesitant on selecting this dog food due to some of the reviews, but I am so glad I did. I mixed 1/4 can with 1-1/4 cup of dry pork dog food and it mixed very well. The consistency is perfect—the amount of juices is perfect. My little guy Our regular dog food was discontinued due to the current pandemic. And we are finally on the road of recovery—with this dog food and a few rounds of cytopoint, my little dude will live comfortably. Thank you!!!! … more

Just for a backup
By mbird on Jul 28, 2020
Not sure about this one. I ordered it after I saw a review of another customer doing exactly what I have been doing ,cooking and making a pork mix to top our 2 aging dogs food, she bought this as a back up. I will do the same. It is too fatty and has more greasy fat laying in the top of the can which makes me question the quality of the pork used. But they will eat it and if we should have issue with getting the meat again then this will be ok.

Mostly water and fat
By Watery on Aug 20, 2020
This food topper did not look or taste appealing to my dog who normally eats everything. It's mostly a water with fat. I contacted chewy by email, and, thankfully, I was able to get a refund due to their pawsome customer service.

Convenient
By Easternmost on Jun 11, 2020
My dog has many allergies. She cannot have any poultry, nor beef. That pretty much leaves pork and fish, unless I buy some of the exotic meats, like kangaroo. I must buy pork roasts and pressure cook them until they’re falling apart; then I shred them, mix with cooked rice and either carrots or peas. I freeze in 8 ounce containers. It’s a long process. I am stocking up on these cans of pork for those weeks I am too busy to cook, or can’t find pork roasts. I simply open a can. Each can makes 2 servings once mixed with rice and veggies. The pork roasts are getting scarcer each week. She also eats salmon and rice kibble. This company also sells 100% salmon, but since her dry food is salmon I stick My dog has many allergies. Not consistent
By Jamie on Jun 3, 2020
Last time we ordered this it was a solid pate texture, filled to the top. This time, it was mostly liquid (fat?), and only filled about 2/3rds of the can. Need a consistent, quality product to justify this price.

Picky eater loves it!

Even our pickiest eater loves the Against the Grain canned dog food. We use it as a topping on their kibble.
