Shocking Oversight (hormone, antibiotic, caged, and GMO food)

I adopted my dog at 2mths old, he’s 8mths now. He was on this prior to me adopting him, so I kept him on it and felt okay about my decision when I read the ingredients

I adopted my dog at 2mths old, he’s 8mths now. He was on this prior to me adopting him, so I kept him on it and felt okay about my decision when I read the ingredients. I just was looking at the idea of using freeze dried dog food and remembered I needed to cancel my subscription because I’ve got a whole super large bag that I’m no where near opening. I won’t need to open it until 6mths time. So I cancel, come to this product page and saw the question about what temp is the food processed in, there was no answer so I started scrolling to see if it had been answered before. Then I came across this which was answered by Chewy- Is this antibiotic and hormone free? Answer by May 01, 2021 The meats used in American Journey are not free of antibiotics and hormones, but they are sourced from USDA inspected facilities and all of the meat used meets USDA, FDA and AAFCO guidelines for use in food. Ingredients used in American Journey pet food does not meet cage-free or free-range criteria. We cannot guarantee that any of the ingredients used in the American Journey formulas do not contain GMO’s. I am SHOCKED!!!! I’ll finish this bag of food and make plans for the other but my search for dog food has officially begun.

Looking for a healthy Kibble for Reggie

I thought this would work for my doggie who has terrible allergies. I had him on a grain-free salmon and turkey diet, but then found out from my vet that grain-free

I thought this would work for my doggie who has terrible allergies. I had him on a grain-free salmon and turkey diet, but then found out from my vet that grain-free dog foods have something added that is poisonous to dogs and is making them sick. So, it has all the right ingredients, but my Reggie HATES it! Even when mixed with toppers of cooked ground turkey, rice, cooked green beans and sweet potato, Reggie would not eat it. Given the choice between an air-dry whitefish, salmon and pumpkin dog food and American Journey's protein, grains and vegetable kibble, he would turn his head away at the American Journey kibble and gobble down the air-dry food.

So Disappointed Now

We were buying so much of the salmon food because we have multiple dogs. The food is not perfect. My dogs have some skin allergies, not sure if it is food related

We were buying so much of the salmon food because we have multiple dogs. The food is not perfect. My dogs have some skin allergies, not sure if it is food related but this was always seemed gentle on their stomach. It was just very unfortunate that the last few times Chewy did a promo on their American Journey food, they excluded this one for dogs with special dietary needs. It’s very expensive to begin with, and customers like us with multiple pets, who trust chewy, were buying their brand in bulk for the savings when they had the gift card promos. And now that our dogs are exclusively eating this food, all the promos for it stopped, because chewy knows you must buy it anyway because it will harm the dogs sensitive bellies to suddenly switch foods (and sellers because this is a chewy exclusive). It’s as if they are gauging and it’s doesn’t seem right. I did contact customer service before writing this, and they were not much help, only saying that they didn’t know when sales were, and of course we are sadly low on food here. Looks like we will have to find an alternative that is not an exclusive brand so we’re not forced into buying when they keep increasing prices. This is not the way to treat loyal customers :(

Damaged. Second time.

Not sure what the problem is. But this is the second delivery where the bags were torn open in half the contents were in the delivery box. See pictures. Not sure

I can’t tell if the unit was ripped before it was packaged or if it’s the delivery people. Now I have to repackage to keep it from going stale.
