About This Item

Details

  • Live crickets are a natural and nutritious food source for various scaly sidekicks, delivering essential proteins and vitamins for their overall well-being.
  • Transit can cause crickets stress, and it’s normal to see some loss—that’s why Bassett’s Cricket Ranch includes 10% extra crickets with every purchase quantity.
  • Bred and raised in a controlled environment without contaminants, these crickets provide a clean, reliable food source for your reptile.
  • Crickets are great for bearded dragons, geckos, aquatic turtles, frogs, and more; just be sure to order the correct size—feeder insects should never be wider than the width between your pet’s eyes.
  • With proper nutrition and care, small and medium crickets can live 2–3 weeks, while large crickets can live 7–10 days.

First off, the crickets are shipped in a box with 2 pieces of egg crates and 2 small vents in a box. No food other than each other. Do not open the box until you are ready to deal with these crickets. Fedex or ups, obviously are gonna throw and crush the box. Even "live animals" sticker, the crickets do not have much support to survive transportation. When my box of crickets came, the vents were taped shut. Most were dead. I opened the box over my gecko tank and he had a blast. I was able to shuffle the dead out and get them into a cricket pin... however they died a few days later. I requested a refund and got another 250 sent out. It was the same story. Mostly dead. It sucks shuffling through the box for the alive crickets. The dead ones are black or dark brown, the box smells horrible and there's random Beetles and knats. This time I'm just requesting s refund. We should do better with what we feed our pets and treat creatures around us.

First off they were not properly packaged leading to several being dead upon arrival and then I struggled to get them into a tank without them being all over my house and then within 3 days every cricket was dead. And then when I went to clean out the tank there were TONS of tiny bugs come to find out those tiny bugs were mites and they ultimately led to the death of my gecko because I didn't know a thing about mites. Lesson learned and our family lost a friend in the process. I used coconut substrate so the mites weren't particularly visible until it was unfortunately too late.

They arrived quickly and almost all were alive. As you know, crickets are delicate and some will die during transit, especially if it takes too long and there are lots of weather fluctuations. My only issue is that the sizes I received were not what I ordered. The "small" crickets were pinheads and not 1/4" as described on the website. The "large" size I received were a mix of mostly 1/4" and a few 1/2."

Crickets and then some

I ordered these crickets for my dragon and while I knew they were going to be small I did not realize they were so small you can hardly see them! With the crickets also came some creatures I did not order like little black beetles ( not roaches ) and caterpillar type creatures. Not sure if they are even ok for Jack to eat. The packaging was something else. I was not expecting a cardboard box with egg carton inside. When I received the package and saw all the tape I thought it was just in case , I opened the box and crickets went everywhere. I had zero chance of getting them into their cricket keeper so I had to set the box inside the tank! That’s when the discovery of the other creatures happened, as well as the conclusion we will not be getting a autoship or purchasing again. I was hoping for a great experience because the nearest place for me to purchase crickets is 45 minutes away, however I know what I’m getting and the packaging is way easier to transfer to the keeper.

a lot of the crickets were dead on arrival. it is hot here in PA so maybe they were left outdoors too long- not sure. but they had a horrible smell when I opened the box. also the packaging is crazy, as there is not any bag or container, the bugs are just loose in the box which resulted in a few escaping into my apartment (not my favorite occurrence.) also the lot of the crickets were dead within a week & my beardies seemed not interested in them while they were alive. will not be ordering again

Almost all of the crickets were dead on arrival. Also, it would have helped if they were packaged in something besides just the box. Those that were alive were hard to contain once the box was opened because they were not in a secured container within the box. I will not be ordering crickets again.

I personally took the delivery from the driver, on=time delivery, and opened the box within 5 minutes. The only living creatures I could see was a medium spider and 2 black larvae of some kind. All the crickets were long dead, dried up, falling apart. Too gruesome.

Many of the crickets arrived DOA, but there were still a decent number left alive after I had my order delivered 3 days ago. However, when I went to get more crickets out to feed my lizard today, I found all of the remaining crickets except for about 5 of them to be dead. The crickets had food and hydration cubes, so there is no reason that they should’ve all died within 3 days. I will not be ordering from here again.
