My cat is almost 18 years old and has lost a lot of weight due to a thyroid condition. He eats mostly wet food but I would like to get him a good quality dry food that he would enjoy when I'm out of town so the cat sitter can leave it out all day. Would senior formula cause him to lose more weight?

What is the carbohydrate content of this food on a dry matter basis?

What is the difference in years/age between "Indoor Adult" and "Indoor Mature" labeling on dry Blue Basics Limited Ingredient/Grain- Free food? At what age should I switch my cats from the Adult to Mature?

Answer by ChewyOct 25, 2018
The Mature formula has less fat and less protein and is formulated to better serve an older cat's diet. In most cases, cats can be considered senior when they are between seven and ten years old.

What is the age definition of "Senior"? I didn't see anything on the bag regarding the age.

Answer by ChewySep 12, 2018
Cats are considered seniors at 7 years old and above.

I was disappointed that they were not interested at all. But I know it was better for them so I mixed it half and half with the blue diamond senior cat food they had been eating. By the end of the 2nd bag, it seemed like they had grown to kinda like it with out being mixed.

The use by date on the two bags of food that you chose to send to us had already expired. I would have appreciated newer bags of food. Also, I wish that there was a place to request that cat litter could please be sent separately. The heavy litter destroys everything else it’s packed with & also covers everything in dust. I do not buy litter from you for this reason. If it could be sent separately, I would. To get free shipping I’d have to get $50 worth of litter & that’s too much at once just to get it packed separately.

Good at first but . . .

Both cats liked this at first and probably because it was new. They tend to get bored with their dry food. After the second bag they were getting bored already

My cat’s poo from another brand was very smelly. And I don’t think he liked it to begin with. I decided to try this one as it was for senior cats and gentle on the stomach. I followed the directions to ease it in over 2 weeks and he is doing so well on it. I highly recommend. Chewy delivered it quickly.

I like this particular food because it's a very healthy, and all of my three cats like it. It's simple ingredients and that's important to me. They eat a fairly healthy wet and then have this to "graze" whenever they feel the need.
