Someone tell these people there is NO Nutrients Tab. Not that I can see anyway.

Ingredients have Calcium Carbonate, and Sea Salt, how much sodium in total is in this Chicken pate?

The package says the food is made in the USA, but from what countries do you get the ingredients?

Answer by ChewyApr 01, 2019
All of Caru's ingredients are obtained from the United States, except for a handful of vitamins and minerals which come from Europe and/or Japan and Tapioca Starch from Thailand. All of their food suppliers must conform to Caru’s stringent manufacturing standards for quality and safety. None of their ingredients are purchased from China as they select their ingredients to ensure a high quality, consistent supply.

Does this need to be kept in the fridge?

Answer by ChewyAug 11, 2018
This product does not require refrigeration.

Top Favorite of Both Senior Furkids!

This is a high quality human grade food that tops the list of both cats (rarity). It's produced in the USA in human processing plants. No grain/corn/soy or GMO

This is a high quality human grade food that tops the list of both cats (rarity). It's produced in the USA in human processing plants. No grain/corn/soy or GMO ingredients. Totally sourced from USA/North America. Texture may be a concern for some, but both of my furkids prefer slurpy type food since Saffron (16yrs) has some teeth, but Sugar (8yrs) had all teeth pulled due to a painful gum condition before I adopted her. I still add a bit of Caru's bone broth which seems to help with Saffron's mobility. The consistency also helps keep them hydrated and is easier for them to consume. The container may be cumbersome, but I split it between the two cats so no need to refrigerate. Saffron also tolerates it well with his IBD which another huge plus!

My cat loved the food, but then got sick

Wanted a healthy food to try for my cat thought caru would be good. She loved it had one box and has upset stomach and diarrhea since. What is the "natural flavor"

Wanted a healthy food to try for my cat thought caru would be good. She loved it had one box and has upset stomach and diarrhea since. What is the "natural flavor" they use in this food? Will throw out the remaining boxes.

This brand of pet food is on the recommended human food grade pet foods list at Truthaboutpetfood.com by Susan Thixton. We don't know what we don't know, but once we know the truth about the horrible processing practices of the major pet food companies we won't buy from them ever again! Please educate yourself about what's being allowed to go into your pets' food, go to Susan's website and learn how to lengthen the lives of the pets you love and care for, because they are totally dependent upon us to give them the best life we can, just as we do for our family members.

Not a hit like I thought it'd be

My picky cat does not love this nor does my dog. I use it now as a filler when I'm low on food. They will eat it then.

My cat thinks this is so-so.

She did eventually eat most of what I put out, but she doesn’t seem to be crazy about jt. She likes her other food better.

good review, but not enough substance

They liked. It, but they were hungry an hour later. There just wasn't enough substance to the food. Too liquidy and pricey

This food made my cats sick

I have 5 cats and 20+ strays that I feed on a daily basis. The strays typically get the cheaper food, but when I tried to switch my cats from Ziwi Peak to Caru,

I have 5 cats and 20+ strays that I feed on a daily basis. The strays typically get the cheaper food, but when I tried to switch my cats from Ziwi Peak to Caru, 3 out of 5 cats got sick. Two kitties presented with heavy diarrhoea and stomach discomfort, one of which ended up having a serious dybiosis that required IV fluids + antibiotics (and this happened whilst feeding half Caru, half Ziwi, we hadn't even fully transitioned yet). The remaining 2 cats were fine, but only one of them actually ate the food, and the other didn't even try it. Contrary to other reviews, I did like the packaging. Now...the strays. It's one thing to say that domestic cats got sick from transitioning foods, but some of the feral cats also got diarrhoea from this food. I appreciate the ingredients and the texture, but I find the tendency for illness concerning.

Quality

My cat loves it and now he’s eating less which is good because he’s overweight. It’s a nutrient dense food without the fillers and I can feel good about keeping
