Do we need to clean the carbon filter before using? How to clean the filter??

The carbon filter does not need to be cleaned before use. The Cat Mate or Dog Mate Fountain needs to be cleaned periodically. When you clean the fountain discard the old filter and add a new one to the fountain. I have attached a video below showing how to clean your fountain from start to finish.

Is there any way to recycle the plastic case for these filters after they’re used?

The plastic that houses the filters may be recycled via your local recycling facility. They must be broken apart and the filter media removed before recycling.

Does this filter replacement work for all sizes of Cat/Dog Mate fountains? I have the large 1.5 gallon fountain (item#127457) and I'm just trying to make sure I order the correct filter replacement.

Damaged goods

When I opened my box, there was a box of cat litter, wet food, and the 2 boxes of filters. There was about 1/4-1/2 cup litter thru out the box as it was leaking

When I opened my box, there was a box of cat litter, wet food, and the 2 boxes of filters. There was about 1/4-1/2 cup litter thru out the box as it was leaking out from the top where the handle was and one of the packs of filters was pretty damaged.

Low quality, unlike original filters in fountain

These look completely different and are significantly and very clearly lower quality than the original purchased in my fountain. Why would the manufacturer do this?

My cat refuses to drink from the fountain with these garbage filters that clearly don't work or are negatively changing the taste of the water that she doesn't like

The original manufacture included filter is slightly curved with plastic insert pieces on each end. The filter receptacle is slightly curved (bowl shape). The two fit easily and precisely. The replacement filters are not curved and lack the end pieces thereof, they do not fit the contoured curve of the filter receptacle. And, because they lack the plastic end pieces, they do not slide into filter receptacle properly.

I'm at 6's and 7's concerning this filter. It seems like I have to clean the water dish way more frequently and it seems like I have to change the filter way more

It's a good filter and I love the new water dish, but it just seems to need more attention than the one that had aged out and needed replaced

Waterfountain Gossip!

Our two Cats seem to use the drinking fountain, AT THE SAME TIME now. The water is so fresh, I think they are scared they won't get enough before the other drinks

So, I kiddingly say they are gossiping at the water fountain... Great Product. BTW, there are at least 3 other water sources here, and they tend to choose this one! It must taste yummy!!
