CatWater pH Balanced Urinary Support Cat Water, 135.2-fl oz, 2 count

We have been using this for a couple of years now for all three of our cats, as one has urinary issues, but all three have had slightly elevated kidney levels at a young age. This baffled me for a while because they all ate healthy foods, but I realized as indoor cats with little exercise, they just don't need that much protein (or food in general), and they need way more hydration. I found different foods for each of our cats that work for them with lower amounts of protein, and started adding a large amount of this water at each meal (morning and night). I make the food essentially a soup, and that's what they eat at meals. This water, combined with the dietary changes I made, effectively reversed the elevated markers in their bloodwork and has remained normal for over two years. My cat with the urinary issues has also had success preventing crystals by combining this with urinary food. We are extremely happy with this product and highly recommend it. Each cat is different, though, and pet parents should closely analyze each of their pets as individual cases and decide what is best for them. As I've learned, unfortunately, the vets will not do this work for you, and each patient is treated with a checklist, a textbook, and with lots of prescription recommendations. I don't blame them and really do like our vets - it is hard to take an extended, dedicated amount of time to one patient when they are busy juggling a lot of patients, so it is on us to take their advice home and continue to research to figure out what is best for each of our pets as individuals. We personally have had a lot of success with this in conjunction with other changes. If you decide to buy this, I really do hope it helps your pets, and if not, don't give up - keep trying new things! Our pets deserve our best effort.

There's always something to learn and correct in our daily lives and the lives of our pets. If anything, I purchased about 2 gallons of "education." {NOT the 12 pack as I am being forced to review.} As a pampering pet parent - as I'm sure most of you are - you probably have a fountain for your cat too; how little did I know that fountains raise the pH of water. Here's the kicker: The Catwater site outright lies on their FAQs by saying "no" to "Will using Catwater Urinary Formula in a fountain alter its pH level?" Go to any search engine and ask: "How does a water fountain raise the pH of water?" You'll find out how (aeration). The proof is in the actual measurements. I'm sure the writer for Catwater might have measured pH 5.2 in the grocery distilled water from his area, but there are many factors that go into production. The pH of my freshly distilled water from my own tap is 6.40 which is just about right for cats. My meter is ballpark / 2 significant digits, so that pH straight from the Catwater bottle is about right at 6.10. BUT look at the pH of Catwater after it's been in Ayesha's fountain for about a week: 7.66. That's a dramatic change from the original product. And guess what? All it takes is a few hours in a fountain for a dramatic change in pH; as you see, the pH varied from 6.92 to 6.94 in about 4 hours. Then what do we do? Instead of changing the water constantly, as suggested by the Catwater producers, add lemon juice; I do this every morning. Please read "When Life Gives You Lemons, Share with Your Pet / Can you feed lemon to your pet?" by Dr. Becker at Barks and Whiskers. Lemon juice (in small amounts) is safe and healthy for pets. All it takes is to slowly drip one drop at a time from an organic lemon into the fountain while stirring with your pH pen until the proper pH range of 6.2 to 6.4 is met. Should we worry about total dissolved solids from adding lemon juice? I'm not sure because I have yet to calibrate my meter for TDS, but I'm not worried: Distilled water is a more effective solvent than lemon juice, so if there's plastic in your fountain, the little extra vitamins and minerals from lemon juice should help keep microplastics from dissolving into the water. I have seen cats come and go in my 60+ years on this planet; most of them suffered from kidney disease and UTIs - among the most common ailments of cats - FOR A REASON. As a person who wants to do the best for your cat, I hope you also stick with science.

I love the idea of this water being perfectly balanced for my cats but,the only concern I have is, if all of our plastics have Nano particles and things INR the material of our products that we consume that aren't good to anybody.I would think those very particles would be in our family pets plastic product items too?
