Our senior kitty had such bad constipation that she would vomit after leaving the litter box. Her high fiber diet helped somewhat but she still had problems. Our vet then prescribed Cisapride and within two days her stools improved so much. No more straining and vomiting. The capsules are very small and she swallows them easily. I know she feels so much better now!

Made Dog Aggressive

The med worked, however, it made my normally sweet & innocent dog aggressive towards my other dog. Super strange. Broke up 2 fights in one day & went back to metocloprimide for him. It’s unfortunate because it works well but I can’t have dog fights erupting. Checked with my behavior vet and she says this is a potential side effect so we drew the short straw. Something to keep in mind when deciding to use it for your dog.

Kebby suffered from chronic severe constipation! After taking him in twice for impacted bowel, we got him on a prescription of Cisapride & lactulose, with Royal Canin FIBER RESPONSE dry cat food and supplemented with Biome wet canned wet food. X-rays showed he had developed mega colon and this saved him! He didn't much care for the high fiber food but when nothing else was offered he developed a taste for it. It was hard at first, but it was worth the effort. My beautiful little boy is healthy and poops regularly! He also lost weight, which helped his energy and activity do in part tohis arthritic knee. I am cautiously adding back a little more flavorful food on a daily basis. Your cat may like the canned fiber response cat food, but Kebby is very picky but I did get into eat the biome canned food. I think the fiber response would have been better for him but it was too expensive to waste with him only licking the gravy off of it. I wish you the best of luck. I wish we had tried this prescription and fiber response cat food so much sooner! It was a powerful and positive combination. Wish you much luck with your kitty and highly recommend the Cisapride capsules which are small, and I dip them in water, sometimes more than once because he spits them back out at me. But I have found that if I dip them in water so they're nice and slippery and I wake him from a deep sleep to drop one in the back of his throat and close his mouth he just swallows it and goes back to sleep. Most cats are not as difficult to pill as Kebby! But we are doing fine getting the capsule wet first! We haven't had another episode of constipation since he started taking Cisapride.

Potentially dangerous and very helpful

I worked on this drug and humans and knew that it would hurt babies, so I insisted upon being removed from the team. Now, years later, after the drug was pulled

I worked on this drug and humans and knew that it would hurt babies, so I insisted upon being removed from the team. Now, years later, after the drug was pulled from market, I cannot believe my dog is taking it. But he really truly needs it and I am grateful that it is still available for veterinary use.
