I rent, and will need to be able to get the latch removed cleanly when I move out. does the tape remove the way 3M's command hooks do?

Answer by ChewyJan 28, 2020
To prepare for the removal, heat the adhesive with a hair dryer for several minutes to soften the glue. You can then use your hand and twist the plastic part clockwise or counterclockwise so that the plastic part separates itself from the adhesive that is still attached to the actual surface. Once the plastic is separated from the adhesive you simply take your fingertip and roll the adhesive into a ball and remove it from the surface. Alternatively, after heating the adhesive you can use fishing line or dental floss to slide side to side between the adhesive and the door/door frame surface. This should remove the adhesive without causing any damage.

I have a 45 lb 3 year old that I need to keep out of our bedroom where our cat hangs out. Will she be able to break this? Is it strong enough to keep her out?

Answer by ChewyApr 24, 2019
Although rare, if some aggressive and very large dogs run into the door and exert excessive force it may cause the 3M tape to become separated from the door and/or door frame.

What size is the opening of the foam door stopper? want to make sure it will work with my doors that are 1 3/8 inches thick. Thanks!

Answer by ChewyFeb 11, 2021
The door stopper is made from a flexible foam material and it will comfortably work with doors with thicknesses anywhere from 1 inch to 2 inches. Less than an inch may not be enough grip and it may slide off. More than 2 inches may stretch the material a little bit too much to be effective in the long term.

Will this product work with a door that has an old, hollow core, door? Door's surface texture is mildly rough, like paneling.

Answer by ChewyFeb 04, 2019
The super strong 3M VHB Tape is great for any type of interior door.

I was hopeful for a solution to keep our dog out of the cat’s space, since he’s jumped gates and squeezed himself through cat doors in the past. We installed it yesterday, and tested it out a bit with a treat of his on the other side to see if he could get through. He didn’t, and we were hopeful. This morning, however, he must have been determined. My daughter and I were playing downstairs, when I heard the latch pop off the wall, taking the paint with it. I definitely would not recommend this for larger dogs that are food motivated.

Great for keeping toddler out of cat areas

Was having the hardest time keeping the toddler out of the cat food, water and litter, it was driving my wife crazy. Friction fit gates, he'd just pull them down

Was having the hardest time keeping the toddler out of the cat food, water and litter, it was driving my wife crazy. Friction fit gates, he'd just pull them down. With these installed he tried to fit through the door gap a few times and gave up. With the foam door stopper it prevents him from closing the door and blocking the cats from accessing their food / litter box, which has happened before. The adhesive seems pretty strong and the intructions say wait 72 hours for it to cure for max strength. In my opinion this is much cheaper than cutting a hole in the door and having to buy a new door later if you're going to move. The wife asked me to order two more. The instructions are pretty decent and cover the different door / hinge placement configurations and let you choose between stronger and weaker attachement styles, in case you need an extra inch of length as certain configurations will give you less strap length. On a right hinge, max strength setup, max slack my skinny cat can get past, but my fat cat may have trouble, but he doesn't go into that room. For the left hinge door there's enough slack to let my fat 15lb cat get through fine.

I bought this to stopper the door to my laundry room, where the cats’ beds and their litter boxes are. The puppy has to wait outside the door now. It’s helped keep him out of their water fountain as well, which I was having to clean more often because of the dirt and debris he brings in on his fur landing in the water. Would definitely recommend.

I have 3 dogs that are litter scroungers! In the past I would use a heavy box filled with stuff to put behind my door and other things to keep the door open enough for my cat to go as she pleases and prevent my dogs from getting to the litter. Sometimes I would forget to do this or maybe left the door too wide and they would go in and dig in the litter box leaving it all over the floor basically leaving a huge mess for when I come home. I decided to give this a try and it is amazing!! It is very straight forward to adhere and the length is adjustable which is amazing. My cat is now able to go in and out of the room where her litter is without dogs invading it and have a safe place to cozy up. My only con and this is just me nitpicking.. is I wish there was either one made for L hinge doors specifically Or be able to remove the hook so the actual cord isn't twisted. This was designed specifically for right hinged doors so when you apply it for a left hinge door you have to twist it in order to use the hook properly. It's not a huge deal again this is just me nitpicking it still gets the job done and I love it. It would be nice though if one was designed for left hinged doors so its more versatile. Which is why I took off 1 star. Other than thay its a little box saver!!! Highly recommend.
