When the Himalayan chew gets too small can you put it in the microwave and make it get larger like a cookie
Answer by ChewyJul 14, 2018
The ends of these Himalayan chews can be microwaved to enlarge it's size. This is done to eliminate the chances of choking.

Should these be taken away once the dog has chewed them down to a small size? My concern is him choking on a small piece.
Answer by ChewyJul 09, 2018
Always monitor pet with chews. When item becomes too small for your pet to safely chew, put piece in microwave for 90 seconds. Allow to cool before giving to your pet.

Approximately how many chews are in a bag and what is the average size of a chew?
Answer by ChewyJun 13, 2018
Each 1 pound bag contains 3 or 4 large, thick pieces measuring 6-8 inches in length and 1-2 inches in width.

How long does a typical chew last in terms of durability? Is this a one session chew?
Answer by ChewyJul 13, 2018
The length of time the treats will last will vary from pet to pet. For some it may last longer than others.

Lasting suspiciously long

I know yak chews are supposed to last but, my dog has had a single chew for months now and hardly touches it. I'm beginning to think that it doesn't taste as good or isn't as easy to chew as other yak chews we've tried. My last effort will be to turn it into a cheese puff and we'll see how that goes. Overall though, if these don't work for your dog, like they didn't work for mine, I would suggest trying the Himalayan Pet Supply brand.

Eh... Maybe

This is my favorite brand of Himalayan chew for my dogs as they like them, they last a decent amount of time, and they're priced reasonably. However, the one time I ordered from Chewy, the chews inside were moldy because the bag had a hole in it. A big bummer, but I know it happens from time to time.

Love these chews!

We wanted something consumable and high value for our dogs that would occupy them as we begin socializing them to the world. As fearful and reactive adult.dogs who had never left the property on which they were born, never seen cars and people, never experienced the kind of stimulation a single dog in a home would have gotten it needed to be something that could hold their attention under mildly stressful circumstances. These work beautifully. Yes they are a bit pricey and we can't hand them out like kibble, but when we are working on long downs at small social gatherings to increase their comfort around humans they're perfect. Portable, not smelly. And the best part is that when they get small I get to soak them then microwave them to get a smoky, crunchy cheesy puff!

Moldy product

Bought these on sale. Opened them within a month of purchasing them and discovered they were all moldy and discarded them. Nothing else in our pantry was moldy, so they must have arrived that way.

Hit and miss?

We’ve ordered these at least twice and this time it came with a dark discolored one and a funky smell. Maybe just unlucky but the odds aren’t good so far. I don’t feel comfortable feeding it to my girl so there goes $25..

Can’t get enough

I can’t keep enough of these around. Safer, in my opinion, than rawhide, and they can be used to the very end by MICROWAVING! Dogs live them and, unfortunately, fight over the last one.

way too soft

I was very disappointed with the hardness of these yak dog treats. The ones I have purchased from other vendors have been markedly harder and took my dog two to three days to eat. These treats only last my dog one to two hours to eat. I used be able to hear making cracking noises as she devoured her yak treats but that is not the case with these treats. I hardly hear any noise because they are so soft she breaks off a piece and eats it instead of gnawing continuously trying to break of a piece. I don't consider these treats a good value.

We wish they would have worked out

We bought these for our lab pup who loves to chew on things. She chewed on one for maybe five minutes. Some got on her coat and it made her smell terrible we had to give her bath. We wish they would have worked for her.

Love but Don’t Last Super Long

Our year old puppy absolutely loves yak chews! I decided to try these, as they’re a better price for the amount. He really liked this brand. The only problem was he was able to eat/chew the a whole chew in one sitting. The other brand lasts weeks until they’re tiny nubs that need to be microwaved. We tried the others thinking it might have just been that one, but he seems to finish them very quickly as well, which causes some gastro issues. We will probably order a different brand for the only reason that they last longer. I would still recommend this brand, but only for dogs that aren’t as avid chewers or if you watch your fur baby and take it away if they seem to be making quick progress.

Picky Dog Approved

We got these for our pickiest dog who has a ton of allergies. He can't have most chews due to allergies, but he can have these, and he was happy to take it and go find a place to chew. He's a giant breed at 125lbs, and it took him a while to get through it. His older "little" brother ended up finishing it off the next day. All the pups approve.
