Join the Pack: Chewy Pack Walks Are Coming to Miami

Chewy Pack Walks kick off Wednesday, Aug. 26, with a National Dog Day celebration. It’s the perfect way to wrap up Dogust, the universal birthday month for shelter and rescue dogs. Expect a leisurely guided walk, friendly conversation, local vendors, giveaways, photo opportunities, and time to mingle after the pack returns. 

The 1-mile walk begins and ends at Chewy Bark Park on The Underline in Coral Gables. Along the way, rotating walking partners and conversation prompts will make it easy to meet other dog lovers—no awkward icebreakers required. 

The Aug. 26 National Dog Day celebration will also feature: 

• Chewy giveaways and swag while supplies last 

• Photo opportunities 

• Local vendors, including Playa Bowls and Graziano’s 

• Community activities and special surprises 

• Adoptable dogs from Paw Patrol Animal Rescue and Sanctuary

• 6:30–7 p.m.: Check-in and social 

• 7–8:30 p.m.: Walk and talk 

Pack Walk check-in takes place at Chewy Bark Park, Lot 40, 4500 Ponce de Leon Blvd., Coral Gables, FL 33146. 

Located along The Underline, Chewy Bark Park is Chewy’s first dog park—and a natural gathering place for Miami’s four-legged community. The approximately 17,000-square-foot space features separate areas for large and small dogs, cooling turf, and agility elements for pups who want to show off their moves.

Parking near the park may be limited, so consider arriving by Metrorail, bike, or rideshare. 

Take the Metrorail to Douglas Road Station, then walk south toward Chewy Bark Park. 

Walking time: about 13 minutes 

The Underline is accessible by foot and bike. Bike racks are available near Douglas Road Station on Peacock Avenue.

Future walks are planned for the third Thursday of each month. Dates, times, and programming are subject to change.  

The guided route begins at Chewy Bark Park, continues along The Underline, and finishes back at the park for more social time, activities, and surprises. 

Dogs should remain leashed throughout the walk. Keep your pup close, follow guidance from event staff, and leave room between dogs as the pack moves along the trail.

Paw Patrol Animal Rescue and Sanctuary is a volunteer-run, foster-based Miami rescue. Its adoption process begins with an application, which is required before a private meet-and-greet can be arranged. Interested adopters are encouraged to apply before the Pack Walk. 

Paw Patrol will have adoptable dogs at the inaugural event, and Chewy will cover the adoption fees for select participating dogs. 

A little preparation can help make the outing more comfortable for you, your dog, and everyone walking alongside you. 

• Check the temperature, forecast, and event updates before leaving home. 

• Make sure your dog has access to fresh water before and during the outing. 

• Test the pavement with the back of your hand before allowing your dog to walk on it. 

• Bring water, a collapsible bowl, and waste bags. 

• Use a secure, properly fitted leash, collar, or harness. 

• Allow space between dogs, especially during check-in. 

• Follow all posted vaccination and participation requirements. 

• Never pressure your dog to continue if they appear tired, stressed, or uncomfortable. 

• Watch for possible overheating signs, including excessive panting or drooling, weakness, and disorientation. 

Is the Chewy Pack Walk free?  

Yes! The Chewy Pack Walk is planned as a free community event.  

Do I need to register?  

We recommend RSVPing through Eventbrite so we can plan for a safe, comfortable experience. Walk-ups may be accommodated as space allows, but registered guests will receive priority if we reach capacity.  

Can I attend without a dog?  

Absolutely! Dog lovers, friends, and neighbors are all welcome to walk with the Pack.  

Are children welcome?  

Yes! Children are welcome with a supervising adult. Please help little walkers stay close and safely clear of dogs and leashes.  

Does my dog need to be vaccinated?  

For everyone’s safety, participating dogs should be healthy, comfortable around other dogs and people, and up to date on required vaccinations.  

Must dogs remain leashed?  

Yes. Dogs must remain leashed and under their handler’s control throughout the event, including before and after the walk.  

Is there a limit on the number of dogs per person?  

For a safe and comfortable walk, we recommend one dog per adult handler.  

How long and difficult is the route?  

The Pack Walk follows a relaxed, one-mile out-and-back route from Chewy Bark Park to The Underline Plaza. We’ll move at an inclusive, easygoing pace, with a walk leader and support team helping guide the Pack.  

Will water be available?  

Yes! Water will be on hand for both people and pups. We also encourage you to bring your own refillable bottle and portable dog bowl, especially on warm Miami evenings.  

What happens if it rains?  

A little weather won’t dampen our Pack spirit, but safety comes first. Depending on conditions, the walk may be delayed, modified, or canceled. Any updates will be shared through Eventbrite, email, and participating social channels.  

Is the route accessible to wheelchairs and strollers?  

The planned route is intended to accommodate wheelchairs and strollers. Final route and accessibility details will be included with the event information, and guests with specific accommodation questions are encouraged to contact the event organizer before arriving.  

What should I do if my dog becomes overwhelmed?  

Every pup has their own comfort level. If your dog shows signs of stress, create some space, step out of the walking formation and let a staff member or volunteer know. You’re always welcome to take a break or leave the route early—your pup’s well-being comes first.  

Will every monthly walk include vendors, giveaways and adoptable dogs?  

Not every walk will look exactly the same—and that’s part of the fun! The welcoming one-mile walk and community connection are the heart of the monthly experience. Vendors, giveaways, shelter partners, adoptable dogs, wellness moments and seasonal activities may be added on select dates based on the month’s theme and confirmed partners.
